Does anyone know anything about the upgrades pictures below? I’m trying to gain a little more horse power. Any opinions would be appreciated, please no negativity. Thank you.

As a fellow 2.7'er that was looking for more power, here's a quick rundown if you plan on staying N/A:

    1) Headers (either LCE or Doug Thorley) headers mated with a hi-flow cat & muffler were the best bang for the buck overall.
    2) Cold air intakes do nothing performance-wise for our motors...just more sound and marginally better throttle response.
    3) Stay away from any of those tuners until @OVTune gets one up and running for us.

With that said- I started with headers, stock cat, and a magnaflow muffler and noticed a decent difference. Then I wanted more...so I went turbo.

Sure it's expensive, but the end result is worth it. There is no "official" turbo kit for the 2.7l yet, but in due time there will be from LCE.
Currently, URD offers a supercharger kit for the 2.7l with great results as well...just pretty costly. My entire turbo setup was half of what the URD costs.

Don't listen to anyone that says "Should've gotten a V6" because they don't understand the potential of this motor. I loved my 2.7, and turboing it made me fall in love with it even more.

@dirtdigginjoe Thank you for input and information. Much appreciated!! looks like i’ll start with the headers and go from there. If you dont mind me asking how much was the turbo set up? also do you notice anything about the with the reliability/turn key and go status or do you find yourself having to tune it often and make small adjustments for daily driving. When @OVTune gets up and running i’ll be sure to reach out to them. Thanks again for all the information.

    No problem!

The turbo setup cost me about $1400 total. Granted I'm not using a genuine Garrett turbo (They go for 1k alone lol) at the moment, but I plan on moving up eventually. Right now on the stock ECU, it drives okay for 5-6psi. The factory tuning wants to keep 14.7 AFR until open loop, which is a little too lean for boosting. This is why I bought an AEM F-IC6, so I can tune the closed loop portion of driving under boost. The F-IC6 is a piggyback ECU, and not overly expensive. The factory ECU will account for most of the changes, but the AEM will make it safer for daily driving.

With that said, I haven't noticed any real issues driving, unless I lug it in too high a gear, and it'll hesitate- this is preignition from the 93oct and too high a load. Easy fix is just downshift and boost!

I am making a long drive (300+ mi each way) tomorrow afternoon in it, so I'll report back if I have any issues lol...Pray I don't, but so far all my logs and readings/gauges look fine!

@dirtdigginjoe Thanks for the info on the turbo. Sounds like you have a clean set and it looks good in the pictures. I go to baja often to camp and surf and there’s this on hill I had trouble making up last time, it seemed I was lacking power so I’m hoping/guessing that something like the headers and exhaust can help. Maybe can do turbo down the line once a specific one is designed for that motor if it ever happens. Yes, please let me know how the drive goes and wishing you the best of luck!!!

@dillonk1602 Thanks for the input. Where did you get the parts for the 4.0 re gear and is the AFE dry pro a cold
air in take system? And where can I find more information on the sprint booster and pedal
    commander? Thanks for the help

sick!!! right on!! Thanks for the links, very helpful. I think the headers and spring booster might be the call. I have the Volant Cold air intake system and it works great. Did you also say something about a 4.0 re-gear? I was getting stuck off roading up a hill in baja at a surf spot and maybe re gearing my transmission can help make it up the hill easier? @dillonk1602 I have the 5 speed manual.

I ordered a pedal commander last night after watching some videos on youtube and doing some research I pulled the trigger. Stoked to hear yours made a difference @dillonk1602

As far as the other parts I’m assuming they will help me make it up that hill in baja. What exactly will the positraction do, also the 8inch full spool, those 2 parts look cool. i don’t have an onboard compressor so the ARB rear air locking dif is out of the picture for me. The other parts seem like great upgrades but i wouldn’t know exactly what each does

(auburn positraction diff) i have this in my truck works great!!!!

i would go with positraction it really good for street and dirt

    Positractions & Limited Slips:
Posis and limited slips transmit equal torque to both wheels when driving straight. However, when one wheel spins due to loss of traction, a patch of ice, mud, too much throttle, etc., the unit automatically provides more torque to the wheel that has traction. Recommended for daily driving, works well in ice, rain, mud and snow. However, in situations where absolute lockup is needed, a limited slip is not the best choice due to the fact that limited slips do slip in some situations.

    Spools & Mini Spools:
For racing, serious off-road, or crazy hot-rodders, a spool is the ultimate traction differential. Actually, it can hardly be called a differential because it does not differentiate. Spools have several purposes. First, they lock both left and right axles solid together so that there can be no loss of power due one wheel spinning faster than the other. Second, they usually support the ring gear much better than most other differentials. Last, they can be lighter than a differential, which saves rotating mass as well as un-sprung weight that the suspension has to contain.

If you do put Positractions or Limited Slips i would look in to a regear to as well that way you can put bigger tires on, regear helps with more torque to the wheel. what happens is that when you regear the truck drives at a different rpm range. changes shift point to the tranny if you go 32x11.5 i would do 4:10 grear and go 33x12.5 4:56 or 4:88 just remember higher you go more rpms more gas (i messed up when i did mine i went with a 4.0 it does fine for street and dirt but now i want more torque if you can find a 4:30 gear that would be sick thier hard to find tho)

    hopes this helps

regear and Positractions install would be about $1000 to 1,500 it all about the shop but ya

super good information @dillonk1602. Regear and positraction sounds like the call, i feel i need more punch in 1st - 2nd got to make it up this hill in baja. i’ll try and send a pic of it. right now i have the stock 5 lug 15inh wheels but i am running 30 x 9.5 R15 all terrain tires what gear ration would be best for that size? my truck isn’t lifted so that’s the biggest tire I can fit.

that’s the spot we off road to surf in baja, you can’t see the exact hill but gives you an idea.
