Rust prevention the german way :

    Let the pictures talk

    http://www.timemax.de/rostschutz-fur-schwere-falle

Timemax is a little company in hamburg / germany.
They try to contrive new rust protection paint.
Long term tests in saltwater or dry ice blasting (like sandblasting) belong to their professional activities.
    A " therapy " will cost around 2500$
    It is still worth it!

Sorry for my bad englisch !

Looks good, I knew that being born in Germany would pay off one day...at least I could read it LOL

I use Fluid Film to prevent it right from the start though...

If this was in the USA, I would gladly pay $2,500.00 to protect / repair my truck.

Google Chrome will do it for you. A bar will open at the top if it senses a page not in English.

That may be a decent solution; which is great.

However, one shouldn't have to pay an additional $2500 to cover Toyota's seeming inability to paint/seal the frame from the factory. IMO.

They must have done a cost study that showed it was cheaper not to use good steel with a protective coating and to piss of virtually every Tacoma owner in the salt belt then to do the job right - go figure.

I guess I'll be treating/prepping my truck every summer for the winter. Luckily I was able to get some rattlecan bedliner on there this winter. Come Spring/Summer I'll be treating with Fluid film annually.

Holy Chit, Batman! I'm north of ya around the Georgian Bay area, I'm also a Krown advocate and my frame on the 2010 DCSB 4.0 L V6 is purty new looking over the years! Lots and lots of prevention and the mechanics at the dealership are amazed.

Hope it works out for the OP! That's just plain crazy, the rust-through! I've never witnessed something that rusted!

    Cheers,
    Barney

Frame is completely rotted out Toyota is also reviewing my case BUT refusses to do anything.

Funny thing is I also brought my truck in for breakpads and then was shown that my truck "was unsafe to drive" due to rust?

Called got a complaint number..:( Toyota is not stepping up on the 2005 models

Hang in there. You need to work through this with the dealership and regional corporate.

National corporate and the complaint line aren't going to initiate any action -- they will only record that you have an issue.

They are swapping frames on 2nd gen trucks but it seems to be case-by-case for now.

I just asked my dealership if there were things covered under this campaign which were not done (or could still be done) to my truck (which had a frame swap done by Toyota prior to this campaign being issued).

He said: no, just the frame and associated lines, hangers, brackets etc.
