I have the RXT shocks with the OME EL096R spring pack. The shocks are still the limiting factor in rear travel. The spring maxes out about 1" more travel than the shock can provide from my measurements.

However the compressed length is just about spot on so without relocating the shock mount I don't see a more perfect bolt-on option. I'm running the Icon bump stops without the spacer ring installed so I will have about 1/2" of shock travel left before bottoming the RXT shock out.

Are you sure? That's no improvement. My 2.0 Icon resi shocks have 10" of travel too and they don't have that funky lower mount

@SDHQ OFFROAD I just came across this thread. Nice post!

I currently have the ICON Stage 4 system with Dakar leafs in the rear (and 650# springs up front). Love the kit, but my rig is weighted down REALLY good (canopy, RTT, bumpers, armor, etc.). I think the Dakars (and 650# springs) are maxed out. Any idea if the RXT Multi-Rate Leaf Springs will perform better than the Dakars? (I know I definitely need 700# springs up front.) And would the RTX leafs play nicely with the Stage 4 shocks? I’m also contemplating the Bump Stop Kit and maybe 4.88 Nitros.

The 2.0" shocks have shorter compressed lengths than an equivalent shock in the 2.5" line for a given extended length. So in this case the 2.0 may cycle 10" of travel but will never cycle that much when installed on the truck. The extended length is optimized for the stock springs with our AAL and will still have some shaft showing at full bump. The RXT shocks on the other hand have longer compressed AND extended lengths, allowing for increased droop with the RXT springs installed while using all of the available shaft travel when at full bump.

I have taken our shop Tacoma out that has the RXT pack and RXT shocks. Handles like a dream. Way better than the Deavers.

I previously had Deaver u402's with Icon 2.5 cdcv shocks and can say without doubt that the RXT system handles, rides and supports weight significantly better. I am running the RXT springs in the 2nd configuration and could not be happier. Further, having the ability to tailor them to your specific setup is huge! The increased size of the resi's offers some additional cooling which is nice when you're really out pushing the truck hard. all in all, I give it a 10 out of 10

Good to hear. I would be running the original 1.85 inch setup. I have the king replacement shocks would this work @SDHQ OFFROAD ? I think they say they are good for 1.5 inches of lift and don't want to overextend them all the time.

They should work just fine. I ran mine in the stock config for several months while breaking them in. You may just not be able to get the full droop out of them.

The J66 is designed for no weight in the bed as the U402's that Jerry had is their expedition spring, so its designed for weight in the bed like his RTT and gear.

King shocks will work fine with the RXT springs, you just won't get the extra travel that the RXT shock offers when combined with the RXT springs and Icon Bumpstops.

I think I may be going with Foxes but interested in the RXT Leafs. Any idea which shock I should go with? These are my options.

    FOX 883-26-007
    0 to 1.5" of lift
    • Extended 23.02 inch
    • Collapsed 14.650 inch
    • Stroke 8.37 inch

    FOX 883-26-006
    2.5 to 3.5 of lift
    • Extendced 25.02 inch
    • Collapsed 15.650 inch
    • Stroke 9.37 inch

I would go with the 0 to 1.5 because I feel like the 2.5 to 3.5 will affect up travel. But ultimately the RXT Icon shock is designed for that leaf pack.

Thanks, I ended up ordering the rear shock with 0 to 1.5 of lift. Looking at the specs I see where the RXT shock has the capability being able to compress smaller and extended longer. I just wanted to go a different route this time, had Icons before on my last Taco.

FYI, I ordered today from SDHQ. Just like my Icons I got from you'll, you guys keep the shelves stocked. I never had anything dropped shipped from the supplier. Everything I buy from you'll, comes right off the SDHQ shelves.

I'm looking at the Stage 4 kit myself right now and contemplating the RXT leafs to go with. Interested in the answer to this as well.

Pulled the trigger on this kit RXT leaf pack w/2.5 RXT RRs along with 2.5 RR coilovers and UCA's. Ordered from SDHQ Offroad. Had them ordered on Monday and they showed up by Wednesday. Talk about fast service!

It was a good time to buy Icons this past week, 20% off. Especially now that the RXT is available. I was almost ready to pull trigger on Icons again and do S2 upgrade. I just wanted to give Fox a try this time around. I did get the RXT leaf pack though.

Currently have the u402s and fox 2.0s
w/ compression adjusters and i feel like they're too stiff whether i have 400 or 600lbs in rear. What kind of weight were you carrying with the u402s and now with the rxt 2nd configuration?
