2005 Tacoma New Head Unit Wires Install Question

Well…I have a 2005 Tacoma Access Cab and am installing a new Head unit which has a new Amp attached to it as well. I found where the power cable (big 12g Red and black wire) need to come out of to get to the car battery.
Yes the amp goes behind the radio this is the Alpine ilLX-W650 with the add-on

$220 KTA-450 4-Channel Power Pack Amplifier with Dynamic Peak Power 45W RMS x 4, at 2 Or 4 Ohms

KTA-450 amp…so yes the power cables will be ran behind the dashboard somehow.
Here is my question…my Father tells me it is much better to run the cable under the carpet underneath the clutch and gas pedals and just make sure the cables are not where the clutch hits the floor when pressed fully…then up the side of the radio then behind it finally coming out of the dashboard.
I would think running the cable much higher up behind the dash would be better but my Father is very nervous about having those wires next to moving parts such as the steering wheel…he used to install years ago but does going under the carpet sound decent enough?

Under the carpet where the pedals are would not be my preference. There’s plenty of room to run a few wires from the kick panel area through the lower dash.

 

Thanks…yes running under the carpet near the pedals I do not like the idea of either. Tomorrow when I have more light to work with outside I’m sure I can find space somewhere under the dash with no problems…my Father for some reason is just so paranoid about doing it that way but as long as the wires are not hitting anything that moves around I really do not see a problem. Thanks.

 

I mean as long as everything is secured and clear of moving parts there shouldn't be any reason why running in the dash would cause a problem again if you measure and clear everything, but running on the floor board to the dash just don't have to worry about moving parts like your father is worried about. I have a bundle of wires probably about 8 guage running from the drives door on the base of the dash where the tpms reset button is to the dash but its zip tied in about 4 places with some tap to make sure it doesn't move and when you look up underneath the dash driver side you'll see where toyota already ran some wires

 

Thanks…yes I just ran them under the dash on the bottom of the steering wheel and simply zip tied everything so that the wires are not touching any moving parts…worked perfect actually.
