Does anyone know if the odometer on a 2006 Tacoma keeps log of the miles on the truck, or is it the computer that keeps log. I.E. Buying a new odometer makes a truck start over on milage.
    Thanks for the help

Welcome to TW. Interesting question on your first post. Is there a reason you need to have new mileage? I'm pretty sure it's also transcribed onto the ECM ('puter)

Don't do anything that could get you in trouble......;)

Doesn't Billy Mays hock something like what he needs for glazed over plastic headlight covers? Check out Flitz or Mother's Plastic polish.....much easier and cheaper.

Brasso, a metal polish available at any grocery store. Put a goodly amount
on a clean soft old T-shirt and rub away. The more you rub, the clearer itwill get

Go to an eyedoctor. They sell a wax type block for taking similarscratches out of eyeglasses - stuff works wonders. Shouldn't set youback more than a couple bucks, and one block will last a lifetime ifyou don't wear eyeglasses. I do, and get a few years per block

    It's stored on the cpu.....

when you unplug the dash console the Trip's reset but the odometer stays.

    It's stored in the ECU.

I'm guessing all the digital speedo's are off the ECU.

The older cars with the mechanical speedo's - wouldn't update through the ECU.

Taconut summed it up. Also, when you disconnect the battery, the trip mileages reset but the main speedo mileage doesn't.
