2006 Tacoma trans problem

That being said , there is still hope for that transmission .
New pump gear , new pump bushing , new front seal and a fresh converter

 

I have an 07 with close to 200k on the ODO. No codes and I have the proper fluid level and done a few drain and fill about a year ago.

When I come to a stop sometimes it feels like I get a light tap as if somebody lightly rear ends me. I think it’s the transmission falling out of gear (nothing on the shift indicator on the dash though) and the ECM increasing pressure so it slams back into 1st.
Is that an early sign of my SLT solenoid going out?
Or maybe time for a full flush including dropping the pan and cleaning the filter?

That supports my theory. Could dirty fluid or debris inside of it cause the symptoms rather than a screwed up solenoid?
Don’t really want to spend $200+ on a transmission that’s already for that many miles

 

Yes , you would have to pop the pan off and inspect the magnets and filter for contamination as contamination could be the cause
. Although Toyota says the fluid is good for 60k , thats under very very ideal conditions .
Rostra makes aftermarket solenoids if you are trying to save some cash
