    Hello,
    2007 v6 4.0 1gr-fe approaching 300k kms, have been getting intermittent p0016 code - crank position sensor.

Have been reading about all the possibilities, hoping for the easy solution, but investigating for the harder.
I haven't checked the tensioner yet.
It occasionally does the startup death rattle, which I understand is likely VVT actuator lock pins jammed up. Might try a lighter oil.
Have new ocv's ordered, but considering the other 2007 1gr-fe's I'm seeing with timing chain stretch, I'm assuming it won't be so simple. I know it could be the position sensor itself too....

So, if it comes to that:
Timing chain sets don't seem to come with the vvt sprocket, but do come with other sprockets, is it common to replace it along with the others?

    Cheers

Of you are replacing the OCV, you might as well replace the screens too.

    As for the gears,
    Some guys do.
Some don’t, if they look ok.
If you decide to replace them, you might have a look at the -3 degree cam gears.

Or, you could just an aftermarket timing set. It really depends on your budget, the intended use of your truck, and the shape of the truck.

Good call, I didn't realize the screens were separate.
That's an interesting product, if the diag leads that far, I may consider it. Thanks for the input.
Knowing that sprockets wear with chains leads me to want to replace all of them, but that vvt sprocket ain't cheap, and I was curious as it doesn't appear included in most kits.
