Been reading a lot about the vibration problem several are experiencing at 20 mph. Just got my truck back from the dealership today. They kept it 10 days trying to find the problem. My dealership agreed this was not a normal characteristic of this vehicle. They tried several things and contacted Toyota Technical Support for assistance. Below is what they did and none of this corrected the problem. Today they called in a Field Technical Support rep and his determination was that this is characteristic of this vehicle. Needless to say I am not through with them.

    1. Replaced the drive shaft
    2. Swapped wheels and tires with in stock vehicle and test drove.
    3. Swap rear differential and test drove.
    4. Swapped both rear axles and test drove.
    5. Replace transmission and test drove.
    6. TAS advised Shim drive shaft. Shimmed drive shaft and condition worsened.
7.Removed shims and reinstalled drive shaft.

    8. TAS sent FTS to dealership to inspect vehicle. FTS determined that condition is characteristic of this vehicle.
    9. Condition not changed.

So now I have a 07 Tacoma that has been basically broken down and put back together.

Arbitration? My Dealership said they would back me 100%.

If the dealership is going to back you, IN WRITING, arbitration is a viable route. This means that some one outside of the issue has noted that the vibration is intolerable and not a characteristic of the truck.

I am sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble. Good luck.

Just remember. Your TOYOTA dealership said they are going to back you in arbitration against TOYOTA. They might say this now but if Toyota leans on them a bit they will always be loyal to the company that keeps the dealership in business.
