I just bought a 2008 Tacoma 4X2 and I have been looking around for a lowering kit. I have found the DJM kit out there, but are there any other options??? I would like to do a 3/4" drop...

djm has the only 3/4 currently for our trucks. That would be your best bet but you do have to notch the frame in the rear. If you dont want to do that there is the c2c kit, the sos kit, and a vendor on XRU just came out with drop coils.

Well, I did buy the base model for cost reasons, but that doesnt neccesarily mean I want to do a hack job on the mods. Im a big fan of doing things right, and on the first try. Which company do you think makes the best kit? I'm 100% new to the mini-truck world, so all these brands mean pretty much squat to me! Haha

well how low do you want to go? The djm is a really nice kit but the most expensive, and most involved. It has new control arms for the front and you have to notch the frame in the rear, you can get either 3/3 or 3/4 drop. I have the c2c kit and am very happy with it, you do have to run at least 18" rims with this kit though, gives 1.75" drop. The SOS kit changes the spring perch, give 1.5/2 drop. The drop coils are very new so I dont know much about them. Also I really only have experience with x-runners, I think our setup is similar and these kits should all work but defiantly check before purchasing them. Let me know if I can help any more.

Alright, so I was looking around for the DJM kit, and I really like the completeness and look of the kit. My big question now is price. Is around $600.00 about right? I have been looking around, and this seems to be what I keep coming up with. I know this doesn't include shocks, but I just want to make sure I am looking into the right thing!

So I went to a number of places, called around, got some prices. The best price I have found for the 3/4 DJM kit is $522.97 to my door -- this seems like a very good price. Anyone found it cheaper elsewhere?

I went ahead and ordered the kit tonight -- should be here within 5 business days! I'll see what I can do about a play-by-play install!

Yesterday was the one week anniversary with the truck and I'm loving it! Got some tint done and shaved her of all her emblems, baby smooth now!

X-Runner. Or, you could just let some air out of your tires - the more air you let out the lower you go, and the best part is it doesn't cost a damn thing.

Really? Is this what I have to look forward to when I post a thread here on TW? I'm not trying to be a jackass, but really...take this argument to the "cyber slap fight" forum ok?

On a side note (and much more relevant note), my drop kit will be here early next week, providing DJM had the control arms in stock and they drop shipped them when Stylin Concepts said they would. I did, however, get a tracking number for the rear pieces! So if nothing else, I can get the C-notch taken care of and all of the really time consuming portions will be done!

I had the Sittin Sic drop coils installed on mine....I love it so far, the truck handles MUCH better in the turns now.

The coils still have to settle, so it will drop a little more...

KnightRider -- I have seen a lot of people with those headlights (black trim rather than chrome) and I was curious, is it a DIY job? Like am I going to have to do the whole heat up in the oven, pry off the lens, sand the chrome paint the chrome and reseal the lens? Or are those aftermarket pieces?
