My clutch is chirping when I'm in neutral and the clutch is not depressed. When you press the clutch, no chirping. I am looking for thoughts, Is this an issue, normal or what. The sound is similar to a fan belt that is glazed.

Truck has 32000 miles on it.

    Thanks in advance.

Throw out bearing, my mustang did the same thing for 10k miles. It's annoying, but it's not hurting anything. Lucky you still have that warranty!

I hope not. I would think it would make noise when it is engaged, if it was going out.

How would you describe the "chirping" sound? For example, are you referring to a high pitched bird like sound?

After reading this forum, I'm wondering if the Tacoma 6sp is manufactured or designed by the same company that did the 2007+ Jeep Wrangler 6sp.

    We have had:

    -Throwout bearing problems gallore

    - Clutch plate problems (slipping, squealling)

    - Clutch pedal / master cylinder / slave cylinder problems (clicking on compression)

-Inconsistent ease of engaging a gear (2nd gear requires you to force the lever into the gate)

    -Transmission popping out of gear

I'm curious about the squeal you're experiencing. The jeeps have an issue where when the clutch is fully released, at certain RPMs or when the motor is under load, you'll hear a squeal. Apparently it's an issue with the clutch plates...

Regardless, if I get a Taco, it'll be an Auto. The Jeep's manual tranny has turned me off to stick shifts...

The problems with the bellhousing itself. Toyota made the transmissions out of alum. but didn't sufficiently harden the snout where the throwout bearing sits so it gets grooved and develops a squeaking noise. Try and get it warrantied as soon as possible cuz i'm hearing they might make it a non warranty problem soon.

Update. I just picked up my taco from the taqueria. I got brand new leaf springs, they were not tsb but as a warranty(according to the dealer). My throwout bearing was toast after 34000 miles. The rest of the clutch was pristine. The throwout was not lubricated properly during its assembly apparently. The taco works like a champ and no chirping. The ride is fine. I have already put over 200 miles on the new parts. We'll see how it goes.

I have had the squealing problem since my truck was 10000 miles old. The first time it was taken in, it was returned without the problem being addressed. At 26000 miles, I took it in again and the entire clutch assembly was replaced.
It now has 47000 miles on the truck the entire clutch assembly has been replaced twice and needs it again. The last time it was replaced was only 1500 miles ago. I took it back in with the same issues (squeal, slipping...) and was told that a TSB is coming out sometime in the 'near future' to address this problem and that they would do no more work towards fixing it until the TSB is out with a permanent fix.

So... should I trade this vehicle in before the value really starts to slip (for a 2011 Taco) and hope that I dont get another clutch problem or should I trust that the TSB that comes out will cure my ills for good?
