    Had troubles with my radio the first day I got my 09 Tacoma. When I play a cd or my ipod, I get a weird loud static noise that pops in and out from my sub woofer. They have replaced my deck once and also replaced all of my speakers, amp, and sub woofer and it is still making the static noise. They cant figure it out and the weird part is, it doesnt matter if I turn my bass up or all the way down, it will stick make the noise. The only thing that seems to make the noise stop is if I turn the treble all the way down......? Doesnt make sense because the noise is coming from my sub woofer. Any ideas?

    My 09 radio has been fine so far. Got the TSB done on it. I have a problem with the ABS system when its hot out. The slip indicator comes on and kicks the ABS off. So the dealer is going to look at it on monday.

    I have the V6 tick on mine, but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Still working on the rear leaf TSB...

    Not sure if I have tranny lag or not. If I'm cruising at speed (40mph+) and let off the accelerator for a few seconds and coast and then get back on the pedal with a light, eggshell pressure, the engine seems not to want to rev for a half second or so, then downshifts and does its thing. I don't think it's tranny lag though - I think it's just my driving style confusing the poor transmission which thinks I want to coast in high gear and then I suddenly change my mind.

    From a dead stop if I punch it, it goes like a scalded cat with no shifting problems. Slowing down to corner followed by meaningful pressure on the accelerator results in healthy acceleration and has no transmission lag.

    I have noticed in this particular truck that my accelerator pedal is stiffer than most other vehicles I've driven...you have to apply more pressure to it than is intuitive to get the effect you're looking for. I feel like I'm pegging the pedal but the engine is revving normally, and I have to make a conscious effort to stomp the shit out of it if I want to go WOT.

    I wonder if some of these complaints of transmission lag is just people not being used to the pedal stiffness on the accel...which is understandable, especially given how spongy the brake pedal feels.

    Too few to list.
    My truck seemed like it didn't want to start up after sitting for a while. I've noticed that I get in and just put the key in and turn right away that it would seem to delay like that but when you turn the key to the on position and wait 2-3 seconds that starts right up. Might have something to do with the factory theft security system.

    The radio has been doing strange things since new. 8K on '09 AC.

    Not sure if I have a problem with the 4X4 or not. It seems to lock up and stop the truck every time I put it in 4H and drive it for any distance. Then I have to backup to get it to disengage. The smell of burning gear oil is annoying. The service rep at the dealer said that this is normal and that I shouldn't use 4H on dry pavement or make too many turns.

    I'll wait for the Canadian winter to arrive and then deal with the service department.

    Bought Dunlop A20 265/65R17 to run on summer chrome rims. The tire installer said to not worry about the ripples in the sidewall. I trust him. After all, Firestone isn't making tires for Dunlop, are they?

    @Zero_B

    Keep all of your stock parts. If you ever decide to sell the truck, the parts might be more valuable to the buyer and the improved factory radio won't hurt the selling price.

    @tugboat50

    I didn't like the brake pedal feel either but I had to jump on the brakes last week to avoid hitting a dog running across the road. The dog and the Toyota were undamaged.

    My 09 was built in Mexico. It has 5000 miles now. It ticks a little, and it sometimes does the "lag". Standard radio & it is fine. Starts & runs great. The engine winds up real nice. I've roasted the tires over on dry pavement with no problem. Even with the LSD on it'll roast 'em both longer than I want to waste rubber for sure. ;) Springs seem stiff enough, but I haven't had over 500 lbs in it yet. Tows my little trailer like a champ. The A/C clutch seems a bit noisy, but then it doesn't have all the sound deadening of my Bonneville or my Camry. Brakes felt spongy at first, but seem to be better now. Or maybe I just got used to it.

    My one real complaint: at 500 miles it ate the fan belt. Wound into the main seal & it started leaking oil bad. Toyota fixed it & no problems since.
