Hey I'm Buying a 2009 Tacoma 4x4 access cab with 2.7L 5Spd..I asked the dealer if an aftermarket starter would void warranty and he said yes..has anybody had the factory starter installed? He told me $600.00 to have it added to the truck. That seems exspensive

Are you talking about a remote start system?

I bet so! I have wanted to have one installed as well as it gets cold in parts of the USA where I travel. I just have not found a reliable place to do it yet. Never heard of that voiding a warranty before.

A remote starter won't void your warranty. Dealers try to tell people that BS so they can deny warranty claims. The only way a warranty claim can be denied is if an aftermarket part caused the issue your having fixed. Look up the Magnusen-Moss Act for more info.

Maybe it has to do with him being in Nova Scotia and the warranty that is provided there?

Maybe it has more to do with the dealer trying to sell his overpriced solution to the problem at hand. :D
