    Just the basics
    Anybody get this to work?
I just dont get it, not working for me.
My Scion had a few easter eggs like this. They are all a challenge and timing counts.

    Bump.

So I just bought my truck and I discovered something REALLY annoying. When you unlock the doors (with key or remote) the vehicle HONKS twice and BEEPS twice. Once of each on lock. Why on earth would you want honking and beeping at the same time?

So the above instructions worked for disabling the beep, but it is really the honk that I want disabled. A couple of other threads I saw had instructions on how to program new remotes, but I haven't seen how to program honks. Thanks!

I searched and found 2 other threads on how to program factory remotes and those two didnt work.
I am trying to set the truck (2010) up to automatically lock the doors when the key is on, I would prefer a setting that didnt lock the doors till the vehicle reaches a certain speed like my F-250 did.

Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

i suppose you could clip the passenger door unlock wire and connect it to the drivers door unlock wire with a couple diodes to isolate it if you were really industrious, but I just put in a DEI system instead :)

F'in awesome!!!! I just did this on my 09 AC SR5 Option #2. It was super easy.
Right after I got the truck I had the dealer do this for me. One night at work I let the battery die and pop-started it. Since then It has been beeping again. I went back to the dealer and they told me they couldn't do it. I've been back several times since and they still can't figure it out. Now I guess I will have to teach them.
Nice work TacomaWorld! I think some dealers need to spend more time on here!

Just tried this on a 2011 Double Cab TRD. Took all of 1 minute to correct an issue that service manager just today told me could not be done.

    Thanks!

i'm lost following these directions and hints:

    (a) Open the driver side door and insert the key into the ignition cylinder.
    (b) Remove the key from the ignition cylinder and, within 5 seconds, reinsert the key and turn the ignition switch to ON.
    (c) After 10 seconds, the system enters answer-back buzzer switching mode.
    (d) Within 10 seconds after answer-back buzzer switching mode is started, if a transmitter button (the same button) is pressed twice, the answer-back buzzer setting changes (off to on, or on to off) to activate or disable answer-back by buzzer.
    HINT:

    • The driver side door is closed.
    • The ignition switch is turned off.
    • The key is removed from the ignition cylinder.
    • A transmitter button is not pressed for 10 seconds after answer-back switching mode is started.
    • The transmitter is operated but the second button pressed is different from the first.
    • Answer-back starts.
Are the hints modifications for a different year? they don't jive with what i read in the steps of the instruction.

    • is the transmitter referred to in step (d) the wireless thing on the key chain?
    • the second hint makes no sense following the directions. when is the ignition switch (i'll guess key in key chamber) turned off?
    • how do i know "answer back mode" is activated? is it just assumed.
    • the fifth hint states the exact opposite of step (d).

Worked on my 15 as well...
Took a few tries to get it right, and learned that you need to push the 'lock' button on the key fob to deactivate the chimes.

    This place is great!
The dealer shut it off when I bought the truck in '12.
I changed out my original 2012 battery today and got the annoying beep.
Did a search and found this old thread.
Took two tries and I got it.

This worked like a charm, my battery was replaced and the beeping started again. This trick stopped the beep on my 2011 and now I can leave in the mornings without waking the wife.
