I've actually done the math on my commute at the lower speed and over the year it added up to 16 hours of extra driving. I don't mind driving slow in the morning, but afterwork is a little more difficult. 1st, I'm going to try coasting in gear rather than neutral for a few tanks and I will lower cc and top speed by 5mph per tank to check the mileage.

what size tires are you running on your lifted truck? did you regear? how is your overall mileage. I'm considering going up to 265/75-16s or 255/85-16.

Right now 265/75 15 on 4.10 gears getting 23+ mpg freeway between 60 and 65 and 75% freeway and 25% city driving. Will be going 255/85 16 with 4.56 hopefully end of the summer

Cooper discoverer. I started a thread in the wheels tire section with a list of options for that size tire if you want to check it out

I'm thinking of installing my spare 87 Buick Grand National Intercooled turbo drivetrain into my 2010 Tacoma. :burnrubber:

My truck is a 2010 4x4 access cab with 2.7 4cylinder and a 5 speed, it has 800 miles on it and my milage has gone up every fill.
The first average was 18.9 after that I removed the charcoal filter it went to 20.4, last fill up was 20.9 and today it is up to 21.9.

This is all mixed driving with highway, stop and go, with and without the a/c. The biggest jump came after removing the secondary filter as well as a more responsive throttle.

I can't wait to see how it does after a couple of thousand miles! I was starting to regret not getting the 6 cylinder, but now I'm kind of glad.

I just got a new Prerunner access manual and only have about 500 miles logged. Only checked mileage this last tank and it was 19.1 mpg. I was a little bummed and then I started reading this thread and sounds like it should get better. Also just added the Undercover tonneau and that might help.Might consider removing the sec. filter, just paranoid about screwing up the warranty or somethin.

my first fill up was 17. i was pissed. my last fill up i got 23.6 50/50 highway/city. I got 28 once driving from San bernardino to vegas. (spirited driving) i noticed a huge differance when i installed magnaflow catback and removed secondary filter. i also switched engine, tranny, tfer case, and front and rear diffs to synthetic. i noticed an increase after each change...

4x4 stock tires at suggested psi

May I ask what octane of gas you all are using? I have an '09 4x4 V6 TRD Offroad and just hit 15k miles...Whether I use 87 or 91, highway or intown, I am averaging about 18 to 20...About the only thing I can discern from using 91 is the lack of pinging noise when accelerating vs. the using of 87...a friend of mine has been using Costco 87 for over 220K miles in his 2003 TRD Prerunner and has had zero issues...any thoughts?

I'm amazed at how poor mileage some of you guys are getting. My truck is brand new, I'm on my 3rd fillup, and I got 25.9 MPG on my last tank. This is mixed driving, probably 70% suburban/ 30% highway.

Was averaging about 19mpg day in and day out. Recently went on a 4300 mile trip from South Texas to Maryland and averaged around 21.5mpg. I was carrying a pretty good load and seriously running sometimes 80 and 85mph for extended miles. Often running in 4th gear and sometimes in 3rd to have some power. It also seemed the closer I got back to South Texas, the lower my mileage got. Now back to daily driving and 19mpg.

I've tried all different approaches, from shifting at 2000rpm, nice and gentle to stomping on it and shifting at or above 3000rpm......doesn't seem to make a big difference. Now I'm not too careful about keeping my foot off the pedal.
All in all I'm disappointed in the mileage, I wish I had gotten a V6.
