My 2001 2.7 / 5m travels 50 highway miles a day. I'm usually rolling 75-80mph. I once questioned my decision about purchasing the smaller engine, the Toyota service rep @ my local dealership told me that I made the right decision. According to this guy, he said for the life of the engine, the 2.7 was more dependable then the six. It was nice to hear, but It didn't really matter to me since I already purchased my 4 cylinder.

When I want as new toy, I can always come up with at least a dozen good reasons why I should buy it. I would go test drive a six cylinder, then research the overall expense of maintaining each engine, along with the price of upgrading from the 4 to the 6. Determine how bad you really want to own a six cylinder. Then sleep on it for a couple of nights before you decide. No sense owing a truck that you are going to hate.

Good luck, enjoy the new 2010 truck
