Just purchased a 2010 super white DC tacoma. Upon looking the vehicle over in the dealer lot i noticed on both sides of the truck on the bottom of the doors going around the cab there is a bubbling look underneath the paint. It is visible if you stand back or up close. I mentioned it to the dealer and he said all tacomas have it and that its a rock chip paint deterrent or some BS. I have been driving the truck all day and just had time now to search on here with no result. So is this true or is it BS and should I demand a repaint? Let me know. Thanks

I've heard on here that the paint is thicker on the bottom to protect it from road hazards. It seems logical.

Thanks for the quick replies. That will make me sleep a little better if I ever stop searching for mods.

Its kinda weird. I have the rough stuff lower part of truck too but mine still chips. Also I wonder how will they get the same effect if for what ever reason it may be that you might have to get one of the door repainted or one side of the truck repainted. How will auto body repair and paint shop duplicate it?

My 2010 has it too. I wasn't really concerned about it since it's so uniform and on both sides.

its no problem at all, infact if it didnt have it then there would be a problem. It is there to protect your truck. I love it and you hardly even notice it. You will be happy you have it in a few years when your truck isnt rusting because rocks have not been able to chip away at the paint. :)

I have same thing on my truck. I did talked to my salesman and says all tacoma have that. I told him to show me! He show me five different color of Tacoma and they all have the same thing. I say nothing but thanks. Salesman told me some tacoma owner have same concern before and nothing new.
