2010 Prerunner needs new transmission and rear bumper

I got about 2500 miles on the truck with two problems a rusted rear step bumper and a transmission to be replaced. The rusted chrome bumper replacement was anticipated but I was surprised by the dealer wanting to replace the transmission. It dropped out of gear twice on me while in drive only for a second or two and has never done it since. It did not klunk or anything but the engine revved up (since it went to neutral)and then it came back into gear this happened on dry pavement. Anyone else with these problems.
