Of course, I don't have anything to compare it to, as this is my first Tacoma (first p/u of any kind, really) and it only has 650 miles on it! :D However, it is NOT my first Toyota, and it seems to be well within the standards of quality/fit/finish that I'm used to from the company. Only mods I've done so far are to disable the DRLs and add a lock to one of the cargo doors in the bed, but new (bigger) tires are on deck, heh-heh. Here's a pic, Black Sand Pearl.

Combo city and highway, approx 23/gal. I'm not babying her, either- pretty agressive acceleration from lights, and 75 or so on the expressways. Mileage should improve slightly as she breaks in, but will then suffer slightly as the tires get bigger :D

    Thats mine =)
Just a bit over 400 on the odo now...driven hard from 2.01 miles forward. I LOVE this truck. But just like RV7, I'm new to trucks and a total noob at 4-wheel'n. I'm really pleased so far with the 2.7L motor - its a strong platform and I'm excited to see how well it responds to opening up the air flow a bit. Plus with our choice of a RC, its the lightest possible 4x4 available.

I've got a few gripes. I have a some clutch chatter in 1st. 3rd is a little stiff and doesn't always go in smooth. I don't force it though. Shocks/springs are too soft, but that will be solved with future suspension upgrades. Tires suck imo. The exhaust piping and cat look top notch, no upgrades needed other than the muffler. The header primaries look small, but its a factory piece and I'm not surprised. I like the bench seat but see/feel its limitations.

All and all... its a hell of a truck and I'm stoked I got it!

Only once... I didn't want to hurt my new baby!!

Funny how you say 3rd is a little stiff with yours. Mine, the transition from 1st to 2nd is a little clunky (only if you force it), but 3rd is smooooth.

Decided on Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 265/75R16's for the new tires. No lift contemplated in the near term; hell, I'm only a 2x4 ;)

    BTW, nice-looking standard cab, crawl

RV&: thanks man. I dig your black sand.. it would have been my choice had this one not been available. I didn't realize yours was a prerunner - duh, missed your sig. looks the same as mine, hehe.

now don't be shy with your new motor. treat it hard. I bounced off the rev limiter the first chance I got, and since done it about a dozen times. I broke it in hard and will continue. you're either in the easy break-in camp, or the beat-the-shit-out-of-it camp. most important thing is to monitor whats going on, check fluids constantly, and never push the motor if it doesn't want to go.
