It says on the Denso website below, so it does not look like new bearings.

Remanufactured DENSO alternators go through a grueling process: Stators and rectifiers are tested to 300 volts, while rotors are submitted to 600 volts, all to ensure reliable performance. Rotor slip rings are buffed to an 8 micron surface finish, with run out limited to 20 microns, minimizing brush wear and abrasion. Bearings are validated to OE standards and loaded with premium OE-standard lubricants.

Can you get a smaller pulley for it to increase idling amps?

    From Denso site:
    210-0572 (139A): http://densoautoparts.com/find-my-part#searchResults
    Rebuild info: http://densoautoparts.com/alternators.aspx

So looks like bearings are repacked and tested - would only be replaced if old one repacked failed their tests.

I just sent Denso a request to clarify for all so here is my submission to them:
"What parts are actually new in your remanufactured alternators.
For example part 210-0572 the 130A for towing model.
Looks like all parts only cleaned and bearings repacked with NO new parts (unless ones failed).
Many Toyota Tacoma guys are wondering as your rebuilt is sold by the dealer and many others but nowhere does Denso actually state positively what's new in them."
I'll post Denso reply if/when I get one.

Just got a reply on 11 Nov:

My apologies for the late reply.

For aftermarket alternators such as 210-0572 alternators:
    Its re-manufactured by DENSO company
    • The unit is completely disassembled and the parts that don't meet DENSO aftermarket specs will be replaced,
    • As for the units you purchase from the dealer: they need to adhere to TOYOTA and DENSO specifications

Their description seems conservative. Mine looks pretty new, they’ve definitively replaced a lot of parts.

Got mine in. Not a bad job, it came out through the top but it’s a tight squeeze. Old one still worked fine but after 9 years and 150,000 miles it’s pretty dirty and the bearing feels a little gritty.

It doesn't look like anyone responded to you, so you are both absolutely correct. The 240 amps is a greater potential, and enough to surpass the stock wiring.
You would have to draw that much amperage, which is a huge load. Winch, shorted battery, 2500 watt sound system :).

The big 3 is definitely the next step. The guy I knew of that had a Big 3 Kit for Tacos is no longer with us.
In addition to the link above, there is a bunch of info about cabling, gauge, batteries, etc in the Dual Battery thread.
