2011 access cab overhaul

    When Keeping the same wheel base as original the measurement off of the front crossmember should be fairly consistent if you have an access cab or dcsb. The rear changes due to shackle length and desired angle.

    I have 3 leafs plus the overload with 5" shackles and it put me up around 4-4.5" of lift in the rear. It's plenty fine. I have a 200#+- shell plus I carry 400+# of tools. It holds weight well and wheels awesome.

    As far as a track bar I don't plan on running one. I've never had any issues or concerns personally.

    Thank you that's what I needed to know! You don't appear to have crazy rake so that's good. I reckon I'll go with a 5" shackle and the 3 leaf w/ overload. If it's too insane I can just remove the overload.

    I think you've told me you are about that! 4" or so in the rear but that is will all your weight... right? A stock truck might be more...

    Edit: is there such thing as 4leaf? I thought it was 3 or 5? Im not super informed on there springs but thats all ive found

    4-4.5" is with shell on and no tools. When I'm loaded with tools I still have a slight rake.
    I'm not sure on all the Chevy spring variations. I think they range from 2+ overload to 5+ overload.

    Yup.. mine are two plus overload which is why im thinking not to run them. Im thinking I should look for a 3+ overload oe even more and I can always remove some. I guess I was never in a hurry to put the chevy springs on cuz with the extended 12" shocks I already have pretty good flex

    So you said you have 24" brake lines? That's only 3 inches longer than stock... you sure about that?

    Okay I asked the other guy on here with the 63 swap, (Vanity4x) and he said 28"... That sounds a little more reasonable.

    Running 12" shocks? I did some calculations and obviously you can't droop anymore than the extended length of your shocks. My current 5100s limit at 26" and my brake lines look like they're gonna rip off. A 12" king smoothie is fully extended at 31.5" so thats 5.5" more droop... I was thinking 7" longer brake line for other variables is safe...

    Ok so I'm tackling the 63 swap Saturday. I hope all goes well. Any helpful tips? I'm a little nervous about keeping the axle centered and I'm unsure about the shackle angles? What do you think?

    The key to getting the axle centered is getting the front mounts in the same location on both sides. Measure 100x, then once more, then weld. :D

    Shackle angles are going to be hit or miss. Tack your rear supports in place and test out the ride height shackle angle. I had to cut mine off the first time and reposition them.

    Oh, and it took me three days to do the swap.
