I've been having this problem since early ownership. I HATE it! if the sound was somewhere else in the cab I wouldn't care but it is literally right by my ear so it drives me nuts! Thanks for the tips in the potential problem areas. I will check later!

On my 2012 DC the noise is coming from the seal around the window not the door. I can press against the seal with the door closed and window up to replicate the noise. I've tried 3m double sided tape against the seal and on the frame but it still makes the noise. How hard is it to rip out the seal completely and re-install it with a fat line of weatherstrip glue to see if that helps?

I dont think these weatherstrips use DS tape or anything like that, as you usually pull it out to replace the window. Try straight silicon spray or a super light coat of lithium grease where you think its making noise - neither will harm the trim.

    The solution is here ^^^

But use silicone spray instead of WD40.

It's been months and I haven't heard another peep from that door.

The popping noise I'm hearing is coming from the seal that surrounds the window not the door. I've put half a can of silicone spray into all those holes and it hasn't seemed to help. I'm all ears if you have any sort of solution for me to try.

    Subscribed.

2200 blissful mils so far ... except the stupid driver door ear level squeak.

Got some spray silicone tonight and loaded up the inside of the weather strip via the holes. No help. Will try it again tomorrow but I sure as hell hope this works.

KB, was your original problem temporarily remedied by very slightly lowering the window and "permanently" fixed by spraying the silicone into the door seal?

I only ask because the squeaking/rubbing sound I hear on my driver's side goes away if it gently tap the button to lower the window about 1/8". That leads me to believe it's a different seal than the one you mention spraying, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

What I had was more of a "rattle" sound, not a squeaking or rubbing.

I would "tap" on the window, with my elbow, as hard as humanly possible. That never worked.

I'm having the same issue coming from the driver's window on my 15' DC. I do not think it's the door seal either - the seal doesn't even have holes in it to spray anything. If I press up against the back top corner of the window the noise does go away. Would love to hear of any solution since it is driving me nuts!

Same here- I push on the top corner of window and I can make it stop. Rolling down the window about 1/16 to 1/8 inch sometimes makes it go away too, but it's gotta be just right. It might just lessen it a little. This leads me to believe it's the seal/plastic/rubber directly in contact with the window. Next experiment will involve placing a piece of thin paper over the top edge of the window and then rolling it up to see if that has an effect.

Hey Harp, I did finally find those holes in the door seal, but I still think it is a window seal issue. Let me know if you find any solution. I'm going to start experimenting as well.

I noticed today that there was no noise coming from the window. I did nothing to the window or door seals. Only reason I can come up with was that it was warmer today than earlier in the week. I'm betting the rattle comes back once it cools down again.

    @burnside, @harpolith

Did either of you achieve a resolution on this?

My issue is almost certainly related to the top of the window seal/track, rather than the door gasket with the holes. I pumped a can of silicone spray in those holes, and that aint the issue. I can replicate and/or stop the sound by pressing on the corner of the window glass.

As to heat/hot weather effecting it .... I live in southern Arizona and bought the truck in July. It has been "warmer" every day I have owned it so I am not sure that is related for me.

I'm probably going to wait until my next service and have Toyota look at it... make them responsible for the issue and fixing it. If they give me the runaround I'll most likely fill the space with some silicone caulk to tighten the gap.

No resolution here. Next up: rubber tape.

Thanks guys. I am a couple months away from my first service at the dealer, and will obviously let them take a crack at it.

I had the same problem - a noise from the upper rear corner of the driver's window that was intermittent. 3M friction tape on the top corner of the door fixed it for me. I swore the noise was from the window and its seal, but firming up the seal between the door itself and the cab eliminated my noise. Seems there's numerous fixes for the same general problem and you have to try them all to find the one that works for you. Good luck!
