I'm wondering what putting a long, thin gasket material in behind the lower rubber seal would do, kind of like using the drip hose for the upper seal for the kazoo sound. Not sure what sort of material fits that description. I feel like that could stop the friction and permanently fix it.

You are right dang it. After two days of 85+ heat it seems the wd40 has already dried out. At least I know I just need a straw spray that doesn't affect the rubber. Have an idea though and will update accordingly.

Edit: I investigated the ability to get actual grease into the problem areas and it appears that it is accessible for a pinky finger. My Toyota tech buddy (this guy could've been a rocket scientist and is the top tech) tells me to use dielectric grease bc it won't affect the rubber and doesn't dry out or cause sticking issues. I plan to try this today. Fingers crossed. At least you guys found where the issue is, now we just have to find the proper lubricant as I'm reading silicone spray also doesn't last.

Packed all accessible areas with dielectric grease (pulled the plastic clip at the top of the door corner to access everything) and after confirming that wd-40 silicone lube is totally safe (I misunderstood earlier and it is silicone based adhesive that will shrink the rubber), I filled all the breather holes with spray.

Well, I think we have it fellas. She's quiet as can be and has been for 4 days. Will update if it comes back.

Note: there is still a slight wind noise above 65, but the same loudness as the rest of the wind noise in the truck.

I have the in-channel Weathertech vents. They lock the window in tight and no rattles.

I had the in channel vent visors and they did the same for over a year, but the extra compression seems to have caused the rubber to start sticking together creating the crackling sound a few months back and why they are no longer on my yotota. Best of luck though.

So far so good. Wind noise seems to have subsided as well. Thinking the dielectric grease has worked its way in and is allowing the rubber to expand as designed. WAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOO!!!!!! No crinkle in my ear hole... Such a relief.

This might be an old thread but still a Tacoma problem. To be safe, I put dielectric grease along the inside of the weatherstripping that runs inside the widow, and put a lot of silicon lubricant spray in the little holes in the weather stripping the get smashed between the door and the body. For me the key was to spray the silicon into the little breather holes and work the weather strip around to get the silicon to spread all around.

I don’t realize how bad it had gotten until it was gone. It’s so peaceful now.

Thanks @KB Voodoo for the fix. Permanent or not, it’s a f*ing miracle. I assume it’s happinging at all because my doors are not aligned perfectly or something. I will address that later.

Dude. You're a mensch. Worked like a charm. I was about to switch to shooting left-handed make myself similarly deaf in said ear.
