2011 seat belt chime mod

Got it first try on my 08 doublecab. Thanks for this mod.
That beep annoys the hell outta me haha

 

does not work on my 2011 (white gauge)...
at first i thought it might have something to do with installing a remote start with my aftermarket alarm (i thought there might be some trickery w/ the wiring making the truck think the brake is depressed in order to start up the engine remotely). but im seeing others w/ 2011 have problems so maybe it's just a change to the system.

 

I just bought my Taco a few days ago and was ecstatic when I saw this post to turn off the chime, but after about a half hour of trying different intervals of holding the reset button (anywhere from 10-25 seconds), nothing worked. Door was shut, no brake, and seat belt was only buckled after holding the reset. It must have something to do with the newer style white gauges.

Didn't work on my 2011. I can't wait to listen to this chime during hunting season.

 

I could not get any of them to work. New gauges and new grill on my 11. Will try again later today though. seams all the 11's that have pictures have the old grill, so guessing the old gauge cluster. except 2011barcelona

 

put some black tape on the glass to cover the light

 

This worked just now on my 2009 Taco woohoo. You guys are great. Toyota dealer #1 first told me it cant be changed but then i showed them the owners manual which says it can be disabled. THEN they wanted $60 to change it. Dealer #2 gave me their computer to mess around with it because their tech guy was off work that day but I couldnt figure it out. All good now THANK YOU ALL!!

 

This worked on my '11. you have to make sure the door is shut all the way and follow the steps above.

 

You have the old style gauges?

 

I have a 2011 with the old style gauges and I have never got this to work
Still annouys the hell out of me.

 

Keep trying man... took me 3 goes at it to get it to work... Make sure you follow the steps to the T and the door is closed.

I am still working on the door lock chirp, cant get it going. In the interim I did the electrical tape mod till I get it sorted out for that...

 

Hey guys .. first post . Just got my 2011 Taco last week and am loving it. I was thinking of attempting this mod, but have been a bit reluctant. Can we mess anything up if we do this wrong?

Also, people are mentioning old gauge clusters vs new gauge clusters. How do I know which ones I have (and does it matter as it relates to this mod?)

 

Did it on my 2011 - worked just fine.
Old clusters have amber back lighting - newest ones have white.
It was a change that occurred around Nov or Dec build date 2011's
I assume by now all the 2011 on dealer lots have the white instrument lights.

 

so for everybody that has done it on a 2011, has had the old gauge cluster???

Please confirm if you've done the mod on the new cluster

 

My truck has the white instrument lights. I will wait for someone with the new cluster to confirm it can be done before attempting. Thanks guys.

 

I think theres soon going to be a bahgillion little peices of beeper in the drive way when i take this dashboard off...

so basicly i can't get the mod to work

 

Wish i could get this to work, i also have the white back lit gauges
