So lets hear from others that have recently traded in their Tacoma for a new 2012.

    I have a 2011 MGM DCSB AT 4x4 SR5 with tow package - 12,000 miles.
Just like new condition. All stock.

Any idea what $$ would be offered for my 2011 on a trade in for a 2012?

I got a great price on the 2012, but they have not said what they will give me for my 2011 yet.

If you look at the nada/kbb/black book and any other website that values your trade in it will say around 29k, give or take. If you and trade in your truck they will probably offer you 21-26k, b/c they don't want to give that much & they want to make a profit.

If dealer comes through as they are talking about, I'd loose about $800 - 1000, which is like paying under $100 per month to drive it for a year.

They won't give you near what you want since they're trying to unload '11s right now. They're probably selling the new '11s for under the $29K Large mentions as the KBB trade-in number. The biggest drop in trade-in for vehicles (as a % of previous year's value) is in the first year. Basically, the difference between a new vehicle and one hat is 1 yr old is much larger than the difference between one that is 1 yr old and one that is 2 yrs old, etc. The sweet spot seems to be around 4 years (I've got a little personal bias on that). At 4 years you've gotten plenty of use, there are usually major improvements on the new model, and there is still (usually) power train warranty left which helps with trade-in immensely.

If you realy wont the 2012, Dont trade in your 2011. Sell it on your own. You will get more for it then the dealer will give you on trade. Good luck.

Sell it on your own. Its not hard to sell a Tacoma on good condition.

I would mod you 2011 and drive it until the 4th gen comes out :). The cosmetic differences in the 2012 weren't enough to make me jump on it. Looks good, don't get me wrong. Not a big enough difference to make me want to haggle with the dealer!

I would be trading in my 4x4 for a Prerunner.
would be doing a 4 inch camburg spindle lift to the prerunner.
NO worries for vibes that a lifted 4x4 seems to always have

I traded in my 2010 DC SR5 with only 27K miles on it. The dealership gave me $22K for it. They were going to have to spend money on putting new tires on it, along with a little repair to the bumper where someone backed up too far in a parking lot to my front bumper, and to replace a $400 interior trim piece.

Traded it in for the 2012 DC TRD Sport Upgrade, fully loaded. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
