Seriously, don't waste your time with it. I had it done on my 11. Just go with an aftermarket add a leaf and be done with it. On my 12 went with the icon progressive, it's better than the tsb pack in about every way. It's not that expensive,

Will Toyota and Dealer shout "foul" over the new snows I put onto the stock 16" wheels last fall?

I'm guessing they would use the new 235/85/16 snow tire size as an excuse for not wanting to calculate some alignment (ie., toe in) specs or something.

    Anyone know?

They don't align it anyway, there's nothing to adjust in the back.

Search Firestone ride rite air bags on here. Add the Daystar cradles if you choose to go this way. Rides good and haul what you need, Truck sits level with load. Best of both worlds.

sort of correct sort of incorrect

while there are no alignment adjustments in the rear, thrust angle can be affected by rear end work

depending on how the vehicle sits on the leafs and the centering pin,
any time you do anything to the leafs or u-bolts, you could change thrust angle
slightly. which means this can affect front toe, which means a front end alignment is advised

same if you simply raise the rear end ride height.
on paper fine, nothing changed but often the steering wheel will be
jiggered a tad and you need to re-do front end alignment.

I had to fight to get compensated for front end alignment when they did tsb-0008-14 on me
and my steering wheel ended up geetered to the left a tad after leaf swap.

Ok I will clarify. My dealer didn't perform an alignment after performing the tsb. They did not fully secure the shocks either, but that is a different story.

    Re: Firestone Ride Rites.
I was this (pinch) close to going that route.
Will PM you the rest of my Ride Rite confusion - so as to not completely jack this thread.

So I know this is an old thread. Last post was over a year ago. I've had my 2011 tacoma AC for a year and a half. (Bought, October 2014 at a ford dealership)
I just checked my leaf springs and one is cracked and very much separated. It only had three leafs to begin with and you can see how the bump stop has rubbed.

    My question...
Are they going to fix this for free due to the TSB even though it is now broken? Or is it my fault because it's now broke?

I guess what I'm trying to avoid is taking it in and getting trapped by the stealership.

You are talking about a separate issue. The TSB covers weak leaf springs and you are out of warranty anyway, so no luck there.

I have seen there has been a recall for cracked leaf springs, but I haven't kept up with it. Go to Toyota.com and see if you fall within the recall and you may get some love from Toyota.

If you want my honest opinion I would buy a new set (OME, Toyotec, etc)from one of the site sponsors and be done with it.

I had the leafs replaced when I still had the warranty but I still didn't think in my opinion they were strong enough. So I bought the Dakar leaf pack and I love them they are definitely stronger.
