anyone else's whistle at high speed? Just me... wondering if its also my DIY behind the grill light mount

 

I haven't had any whistling noises coming from my and drive the highway a decent amount. Next time i'm on the highway I'll turn the radio off and listen, but if there is any noise it must be faint because I haven't noticed it.

No lights behind the grill so that could be the culprit.

 

Can't really help with this one.

 

Mine started whistling after I mounted my retros. There's a thread on here somewhere about how to fix it. I have read that the whistling might be caused by that little rubber tube that sits on top of the newer grills. When you remove your grill and reinstall it sometimes it doesn't sit back up fully when you close your hood allowing air to pass through that and causing a whistle.

Theres a fix for it in the thread. I'll try to find it and link it for you.

I don't have any whistle on mine. Maybe you guys have an exposed bolt or didn't round one of the corners well enough?

 

mine also whistles. have not figured out where its coming from. will check into that fix linked above.

 

do you have ghost grill for 2009 ?

 

Not on hand but I could certainly make one. I just made one for an 01-04 build I'm doing.

 

Installed mine yesterday. Didn't get a chance to paint the radiator yet. I'll do that tomorrow after work. Drove to LA after I finished the install and didn't notice a whistle. I can't stop staring at it.




Does anyone have any tips on how to better secure the bottom half? Mine pops out every now and then. I think I need to take the grill off and realign it better.

I can show you a couple photos of what I did once I get home.... pics are on the ipad. nothing major but I also had a couple of spots that would want to pop out and had to secure them a little better.
