I have a brand new 2012 tacoma double cab 4x4 6-speed sport edition. I bought a new Pioneer Avic-z140bh, and was going to install eveyrthing myself. I have done installs before on older vechicles. So i know some stuff on installs. Any one did a double din dash upgrade on there 2012 tacoma with 6-speaker non-jbl headunit? Here is everything i bought:
-Axxess ASWC steering wheel interface and the plug n play adapter
    -Scosche TA2053S9B dash kit
    -Pioneer CD-IU51V
-Scosche TA02B wiring harness for 87+ up

The problem i am having is that after connecting everyhting there is 3 plugs that doesn't connect to anything. I believe 1 blue plug might be the factory mic. the other 2 plugs im not sure what they are for. Can someone please help me? i need to know if there is anything that i am missing to finish my dash upgrade. Thanks

Just the main two plugs are all you will need.

The 20-pin connector will have your SWC wires. You will be tapping into three wires there. One will go to ground, and the other two will go to the ASWC. You an connect the red and black on the ASWC to the same red and black the radio uses.

The 2011 should have the same SWC wiring.

    http://www.axxessinterface.com/steering_wheel_control_new.aspx

Here is the specific wiring for the Tacoma: http://contentdocs.installernet.com/documents/vehicle/10957.pdf

    Hope this helps!!

I just did a pioneer install. Two plugs are all you are going to use. The rest weren't needed. They are specific to functions of the stock radio. That's why you bought adapters (I.e. steering wheel controls). The plugs used were primarily power set and speaker set.

As of now, there is no dash kit for 2012s, which is why I'm curious to see your finished product.

I also have a 2012 double cab, without the Nav. I am considering to upgrade the audio, but I do not want to replace the factory head unit. Does 2012 have rca outputs on the factory headunit? I will want to install a 4 chan amp with 6.5 compontents up front and 6.5 coaxes in the rear. Has anyone added amps/speakers with the factory headunit, if so, did you experience any issues?

    Thanks!!!

One of them is probably the satellite radio antenna and the other for the aux USB jack. And there are no RCA jacks on the unit, you need a line level converter.

I don't know how to link it with the Tapatalk app I'm using, but check out my stereo build. Just search Stock head and you should find it. No RCAs, I tried a line converter and will be pulling that and installing a new head on Mondsy.

Oops, didn't notice you had the ASWC adapter.

I don't have the 2012 factory diagram through all-data yet, but should soon. We have taken one apart though, so I do have some info.

Like Mentioned here the other plugs are not used. Likely they are for sat radio and other stuff. I will have a full breakdown of it soon hopefully.

Ciacci - have you mocked up your wiring before you mounted your head unit? Mocked up meaning temporarily connected your wires and made sure everything worked, stereo, steering wheel controla, speakers, etc...

I didn't really have a whole lot of time that day I did it. But this tue I will mock everything up n test it out. I just wanted to see if anyone who has a 2012 n did the upgrade, I want to just make sure before I do it cause it my daily driver n I don't like to start n not be completely finish.

Mock your wiring up, ensure that all of your control s work, and if there are extra wires just tape the ends up. If something is not working, then that's when youd troubleshoot.

Ciacci I did not use all the OEM plugs off the stock stereo just the ones that had the speakers and power and then three wires off of the twenty pin connector for the steering wheel control adapter. The usb and aux in do not work but that is fine there is usb and aux input on the front of the Kenwood.

@ 6speed I don't have any mode wires I'm keeping everything plug n play so the extra 3 aren't wires it's 3 extr harnesses. I don't want to have to re-wire anything unless I have too. I have the plug n play for the steering wheel control n everything else. I just want to see what works n what doesn't. Cause I read somewhere on here they go the USB n aux to work
