Question. I just picked up my 6th Tacoma, yes, 6th. It's a 2014 Reg Cab. Very clean truck, but the previous owner smoked and I want to remove the headliner and either clean it or replace it. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for this write-up. This will be very helpful when I go to soundproof my roof.

Ozone machine is you're only option if you don't want to replace the head liner. I bought a car from a guy who smoked two packs a day. I put my ozone machine in there for a week with the windows closed. Let it air out for a day after and no more smell at all.

Old thread, and late response I know. I bought an ozone machine, did the treatment for about 20 minutes twice and it is like new, no smell and after detailing, looks new. In case someone wanted to get rid of the smell, the ozone machine/treatment is the key to success indeed.

Thank you to the OP! The write up was perfect!. I pulled my headliner to install some insulation on the roof and it was totally easy to follow along and get the job done as i read along on my phone!

Just bought a bunch of Noico sound mat to do the same thing. Hoping it will cut down on noise from roof rack somewhat. How much did it help you?

It honestly helped out a LOT, I noticed it when I started my truck up. I also did the rear floor and the entire back wall, 80mil and then the foam 120mil over top of that. No more roof noise and a very noticeable difference in road noise. After having done this I am very tempted to tear the door cards off and do the doors next....

I was wondering if I needed the foam to go with it. Noico recommends it for better insulation but I just care about sound deadening. Was going to do roof, doors and back panel. Probably wont do floor at the moment. Did you do the foam on the roof as well or just back wall and floors?

Fair enough. Ill use the foam on headliner and back wall. Prolly skip it on the doors, only cause those are easy to get to and can do it whenever. Just ordered

Went for a drive today. Mind you we'd only put a single layer of reflectix insulation. We did it for great reduction in the summer and keeping warm in the winter. It's maybe a little quieter on the road.

I know while installing it that the reflectix blocked the heat from the roof very well. With the truck sitting in the sun, the uninsulated interior roof was hot to the touch and the insulated side was cool. I'll let you know how it works in the summer sun....
