Just done the Trooper install on my 2012 taco.Used fogs/wiring/switch that came in kit.The only mod was trimming the tabs on one side of fogs and extend switch wires. GREAT JOB TROOPER ON INSTALL PHOTOS

I also followed trooper's writeup a month or two ago. Excellent and very easy.

Thanks to the OP and other contributors in this thread. I've got the Camry lights on order, relay already in the mail, and called the local dealership today for the fog light switch. $86 Cdn before tax :(

Got down on the ground yesterday to free up the Fog Light harness so when my lights come in I don't have to search for the connectors and also popped the blank switch cover which had the fog light connector attached to the back of it. How sweet is that?

Also dug out the brake controller connector so when all my Amazon, Ebay items start arriving I can quickly get them installed and running. :D

Is the factory harness already installed in a base cab for example.?? I know some manufacturers used to just install all the harnesses in all models then just add the options as needed...

Base models, generally not. SR5 models generally do, but I'm not positive, example, the regular-cab SR5 is not available with some options available on the AC/DC models, such as cruise control.

Look under the bumper behind the pockets. Do you see the harness tied back?
Look in the underhood fusebox where the fog relay plugs in. Do you see copper contacts, or is the socket empty, just plastic?

If the answer to those is "no" then you need to do a ground-up build using aftermarket or a mix of aftermarket and OEM parts (I like the OEM FJ Cruiser switch).
If the answer is "yes", then install the lights, plug in a relay, buy an OEM switch (Taco 4-pin, not FJ 6-pin), find the dash harness behind the punchout, and install the fuse.

I have been very happy with my "Dash Z Racing Products" fog light kit...and they work any time too....About $150.00

    Rich,

Does the FJ wiring and harness come complete so after I get the Ebay Camry housings I could throw out the rest and just install the FJ package and modify the end connector?

I'm not prewired but the luminated switch sound good, but what's the extra two contacts on the switch for?

2012 SR5's are not prewired if you get the 4 cylinder at least on the East coast

    Thanks

The FJ switch and harness is only the underdash portion and will not interface directly with the Tacoma harness.
You'll have to cut the connector off of the opposite end of the harness from the switch and then wire it as you would any aftermarket illuminated switch.

Nice thing about the FJ switch is it not only has the dash illumination but also an indicator light. Stock Tacoma doesn't have the indicator.

I bought some cheap $21.00 lights (3 1/2") from Walmart and made my own mounting bracket to go along with the ones that came with the lights. They fit really well as the lights are about 1/4" larger than the hole. I didn't even bother wiring it up since I don't plan on using them. I just wanted a nicer look than those black covers.

Just finished the installation myself. Lights for 07-09 Camry went in without a problem. No mods needed to them. Was lucky enough that the relay and lights all arrived this morning so It took me all of 30 minutes to pop everything in once I got the light orientation correct. :D
They look awesome, thanks OP and other contributors to turning me on to this relatively easy mod for those of us with the Factory installed Trailer package. It's nice having all the wiring already in place.

Can you tell me how you wired your FJ switch for your fogs I got a wiring diagram off the FJ forum. I'm not prewired just going to use an add a circuit off the radio fuse to power the switch

No idea where I'd pull an interior light circuit for but I've got daytime running lights so my panels always lit thought I'd just wire #3 and #6 together

    Thanks for any help

    That diagram will work perfectly.
If you don't care about the dimmer, you can run the illumination power to the 12v switched source. You can also pull power from the AC panel illumination... that does not come on with the ignition.

    Reason Toyota did this?
The cluster is LED. It can run 24/7 no problem.
The AC panel and fog light switch both use regular lamps.
Running them 24/7 will have them burning out quickly.

Great answers, thanks for explaining about the LED I could never understand why they used them since its probably more expensive.

About ready to pull the trigger on these...so just to get it straight if the harness is there under the headlights and behind the blank on the dash the 07-09 Camry fogs will plug right in? So all I need is the relay and the switch to complete the install?

Look behind the bumper cover and see if the harnesses are taped up to the radiator support.

Look in the underhood fusebox where the fog relay goes and see if there are gold colored connectors in the socket, or if it's just empty plastic.

If so, buy a relay, factory switch, and fuse and you'll be plug and pray.

Correct. No additional work needed. Plug and Play worked for me.

My Fuse was already in place on the 2012. Toyota probably used it as a place holder for a spare, :D

Just plugged in the Relay and put in the Fog Switch after installing the Camry lights and I was done.

Thanks for these post, it helps me to do my own Mod's. I got my Switch & Relay Installed,
I Checked that Fog lights will be ON only when Head Lights are ON.
I'm still trying to look for my Fog Lamps (good deals).
My suggestion to others is DON'T buy Fog lights from Blinglights, it will not fit to your 2012 Tacoma, that's my experienced as well.
