I thought about that also, being honest I haven't looked into current draw and such from the lights I want to add, I want a yellow lens for lamp, so I think to be safe I want a relay and separate circuit.

Also I want to add another 55w white light under the rear bumper for assisted reverse in the woods here. So I'll be running my wires at the same time into the cab and such!

I know in NC if your seen with fog lights on and no low beam lamps you can be pulled for it. But I know I rewired my old 89 Supra-T to run my fogs w/my parking lights. Lol, it looked BOSS!

You'll still need to run a relay.
The low beams are on a circuit that was designed to drive the low beams.
Adding the fogs is doubling that current draw and could blow the fuse or overheat the wiring.

Use the low beams to trigger the relay, use the relay to power the fogs off of their own fuse.

Okay so my RC 4 cyl is not prewired for fogs. I can buy the lamp housings in the form of an aftermarket kit, factory relay and switch. What about the wiring harness? Will I be able to use any part of the harness from the kit? Do I have to wire in the rest or is there a factory harness I can buy?

spruce i dont think your going to be able to take that route, factory system is dependent on headlamps being on ect... its pretty extensive. i would buy the Camry lights listed for $50, fit those in, then wire the fogs in 'from the ground up'. def very straight forward. you'll just need to use a relay, and power taps. use the harness that comes with the Camry fogs so you can use the factory wire plugs on the fog lights, also has a relay in the kit. but their harness will not be long enough.

you may be able to use the factory switch if you can find the plug and pigtail for it to tie into...

The only part of the supplied harness that I will be using is the part that runs from the lights to where it was supposed to connect to the harness and tie into the relay.

The rest of the supplied harness was too short to evenmake it from the radiator support to the firewall, much less the dash, it doesn't use a "standard" relay, and I couldn't even get the thing to plug into the supplied switch (which wouldn't fit the dash cutout anyways).

Run the battery-to-relay-to lights on 14ga wire using a 15a fuse... that'll cover a pair of standard 55w lamps.
The add-a-circuit-to-switch-to-relay can be on 18ga wire, and a 3-5a fuse is more than adequate for that. You can use 14ga for everything if you'd like, the smaller fuse won't hurt it.

I sent him a link to the FJ Cruiser factory switch and pigtail for $77
This is a 6-pin switch that has the dash illumination light like the Taco switch, but it also has an amber indicator light.

The 3a fuse is fed from only one source... either a fuse panel or a switched source. I prefer a switched source, if you go hit 24/7, it's only a matter of time before you forget and kill your battery.

Also, the "from interior light circuit" is optional.
I never use my dash dimmer, so my installation plan is to use the low beams for the switched power source, and I'll simply "T" pin 6 to pin 3.

Ok, I'm getting ready to get things together to do this. I understand all the wiring and stuff pretty good. This may be a stupid question, but what's the best way to get wires from the engine area to the cab? I see the big bundle of wires on top behind the dash but it's wrapped pretty tight. Never had to do this before...

Locate one of the rubber grommets where the stock harness passes through.
Use a soda straw with the end cut at an angle, work through the grommet to create a pathway through and run the wires through that opening.

A dab of silicone sealer on the underhood side would be a good idea to make sure the cab stays dry.

Sorry to hear that. I had to fart around with them a bit but they did slide in no problems for me.

Mine did NOT have pre-wiring to the fog lights mounts - dealer had to take care of that with the kit. As stated in my other post, the part number (Fog Light Kit) they listed on the work order was tta-312)

ALSO - the kit they installed placed the SWITCH into the center console blanks, not the left of steering wheel blanks.

Installed pics are in my gallery or other thread.

Couldn't find your posts in the other thread, and not much to see in your gallery other than a SWEET looking new truck....

It looks like the dealer used the Scion style fog switch. Is that a pushbutton or a rocker type?

Ha! Thanks, love it. Almost 2 months old now, fogs, wheels and radio installs done. Probably add tint and a bed cover intense near future.

The switch is a push button, glows green when on, wired "legal" to be on only with low beams.

Dealer insisted on the install so it is covered by warranty.

Any reason these halos for a 2008 Camry wouldn't work?

Do they light up the road well? I did the same with the camry lights but mine had to be trimmed. I don't think they throw light in the right place.

    Where did you trim?
I've tested them twice, i only use my fogs, in fog or snow ... And there hasn't been any, when I did test them it was clear out it was good illumination down low, filling in the dark spot left by the headlamps BUT I did notice some illumination up higher, when I noticed it passing the overpass I figured my next step will be to take a closer look in rain and pull the truck up to the garage door and see where they're hitting. Overall, it didn't strike me as anything out of the ordinary for stock lamps.

A note to those doing this w their 2012s... The switch cited in this thread is backlit amber, doesn't match 2012 lighting at night. I ordered 2012 part number from parts.com to see if it's a match.
