    Guys:

Looks like Toyota has the new 2012 hood protectors in stock. Here's the correct part number: PT427-35120.

The dealer said he could have it in a day. I'm wondering why the list price is near $160.00!

    Best regards,

    Rossi

Does it address the paint chipping issues related to the older units?
If not they can keep it.

Not sure what issue you're referring to. I asked them how it mounted and they weren't sure if it was similar to the 2010 / 2011 trucks or not because the haven't seen one yet. Directions say "no drill." For $160.00, I think I'll buy the AVS unit (around $65.00). I had one on my 2010. The only thing I didn't like was it sits near the top of the hood and makes it difficult to wash and dry.

The older hood protectors had brackets that fastened to predrilled holes under the hood but the steel bracket folded alound the leading egde of the hood and by flexing up and down would chip paint off from under the steel bracket.
Toyota tried a piece of clear vinyl install to the hood under the bracket but it was too thin and would soon wear thru and you are right back to chipping paint again.

I saw these before and it's exactly why I put an AVS unit on my last truck. I'll try and figure out how these new ones mount...

    Thanks,

Anybody with a 2012 have an AVS shield on yet? A pic would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
