This poll is specifically for owners of 2012 Tacoma's. The goal is to determine what percentage of 2012 owners have actually had an issue with the air injection valves or secondary air pump.

From this poll, we can determine the percentage of forum owners who've had a failure, and the if one component tends to fail more often than the other.

*If you've experienced a failure of both components, select both.
**If either component has failed, post what it was and at how many miles the failure occurred. Folks may also be interested whether your repair was covered by Toyota either entirely, partially, or not at all.

Not a Tacoma, but my previous 08' Tundra pump failed at around 60k. Terrible design, and it puts the truck in limp mode 35mph max!

Mine did not fail, but I bypassed the valves and removed the pump before it became a problem.

I posted this in the P2440 P2442 thread. Quoting it here for sake of the poll. My pump was completely fine, and my filter still looks good.

From the looks of things, I'd say it's not quite as widespread a problem as I thought it was. I swapped the pump filter and removed the foam as a precaution anyhow.

No problems yet, only have 24,xxx miles, I did the filter mod and put a 3 x5 in. Desiccant bag in the pump container pot for moisture entrapment.

61k miles and mine hasn't failed. It'll probably happen tomorrow now that I voted in the poll.

    45,000km and no problem yet...
What seems to be the cause of these giving up?

Edit: I can't recall, but does the valve get discarded when adding the s/c?

What kind of desiccant bag did you use? Any worry about the desiccant spilling out and getting sucked in? I got the little red filter to do the mod but haven't gotten around to it on my '13 but this is the first I have heard of someone putting desiccant in there also.

Hey TW, I just used some small shipping desiccant bags from shipments from my job site, bag is heavy
duty and is 180 degrees from pump vane opening, not worried about closeness of vanes, sorta impossible for it to be "grabbed". You can buy on EBay , Walmart, maybe Staples, just make sure it's too large to be ingested and small enough to fit in canister. The ones on EBay will change color from blue to pink when contaminated with moisture.

I have the 2440 and 2442 codes and recently got the P0418 code. The truck has around 65k miles.....the errors came in at around 58k.
