I used the tacoma build on the website and it was an extra $1200 to do from the factory. If you get the automatic you can build with heated leather seats. The standard like i got would have to be done at the factory and ordered that way. I asked how much to do after i had the truck with cloth already and the salesman said it would be around $2600 to add after and it was cheaper to order with. It's not hard to do and most upholstery places can make seats leather, they can get someone to do the electrical for the heated seats as well at any car customizing shop.

LOL wow...why would you try and hold the dealer hostage on the state fees that they have no control over?? You dont walk into a grocery store and negotiate the sales tax on a loaf of bread or gallon of milk do you?? I've been in the car business for over ten years and currently work for a toyota dealership and have since I started back in 2001(except for a couple years at a Lexus store). It cracks me up that you think there are that many games played....math is math..the fact of the matter is, the customers play more games than the dealerships do trying to work out a "good deal". YOU as customers cause most if not all the brain damage in buying a car. I can tell you from fist hand experience...I NEVER expect any one to pay retail for anything! Why would I when I myself wouldnt?? The best way to get a "good deal" is to go into your dealership and be HONEST with them and let them know that youre ok with them making a few hundred bucks on you. Be upfront with them and tell them you expect the same in return. If at that point you dont feel like they are, then take your business somewhere else...DON'T sit and play the "games" you listed out in order to try and get the "good deal" you all are referring too. All you're doing is causing yourself grief and turning what should be a happy fun experience into a pain. Ask yourself this..."if I were in business for myself, how much of FAIR profit would I expect on a 30k + vehicle"...? I think we'd all agree that 300 bucks over is a very small profit to make on such an amazing truck as the tacoma is....and if you've got a problem with the state fees i.e sales tax and lic+reg then take it up with the state, dont hold the business responsible. I just bought a new 2012 d-cab short box tacoma sport 4x4 with entune. MSRP was 34 and some change and I paid 32 and some change. Good luck with the purchase of your truck. I'd be happy to help you if I can. :)

Can you break down the fees:
Should be tax, air tax, tire tax, freight/delivery. Just want to see how it got to be $6177.20. Sounds like almost the same truck i just bought, and mine went like this:

    MSRP = $33 650.00
    Discount = $2137.90
    Price after discount = $31 512.10
    Freight/PDI = $1635.00
    Air/Tire tax = $120.00
    Block heater = $258.90
    Total price = $33 526.00+GST = $35202.30

Ended up being $35 208.86 out the door, paid certified cheque. Since you guys have HST that would have made the above price $37549.00...plus auto instead of standard = $38549.00. Curious how it ended up being $41 227.20?

PM me if you would like the dealer name and contact info. I did the whole deal through email, then went to the dealer and bought without even driving cause i was in a hurry and they said they had a black one in stock. Should be lots of automatics. My mistake initially, was not calling/emailing every dealer in the area for a quote and thinking they would all be pretty close after talking to 3. Ended up saving $1000 in the end.

sounds like a dealer .first do you expect me to believe when they say they are only making 300. that they really are only making 300.wouldn't be in business if this was so.game playing by dealer.second my 2 dealers told me the very same invoice for the vehicle i wanted and one had to make 350. over invoice so they could make something, then i offered second dealer 350. under invoice( approx. 22350 invoice) and they took it and this was on a 23350 sticker basic access cab.probably still paid too much.invoice doesn't mean anything as they get there extra money in the back door from the car manufacturer so it is hard to know what they really are making as real money is in inflated invoice.and by the way some one who knows nothing walks in and says i'll take it the salesman WILL stick it to them, not discount it because it would be right thing to do for unsuspecting individuAL.LETS SAY 99.9% SALES PEOPLE.

Thats a two way street. I know that my first car purchase.. I got hosed on. After my buddy in car sales told me about what happens behnd the "managers door" I havent gotten it near as bad. Any car dealer I have ever dealt with starts out assuming your an idiot and tries the buddy approach. If he feels you out and acertains that you dont know shit... then the price on vehicle is pretty much set in stone.

In short... if your not trying to screw over the dealership ..your gonna get screwed.. at best you can end up in a stalemate and have a mutually beneficial exchange and that is usually only after a long drawn out battle.... Then on to the battle with the paerwork/warranty sales guy who seems to be able to eat up another full hour of time trying to sell you a bunch of crap you already told him 10 times you dont want.

The only new car I have purchased that was a pleasant experience was a loaded 2012 Jeep Rubicon that was priced at 38.5 ish, I spoke to the sales guy i told him what I wanted and at what price.. he countered by explaining to me that he had a fully loaded model he couldnt unload... end result I got for 36k out the door He got 150 dollars for making a sale that only took him 2 hours to work.

I just ordered and put my deposit down on mine on Saturday.

    '12 Access Cab Spruce Mica
    TRD Off Road
    DRL
    All Weather Flooring
    V6 Tow Package
    6 Speed

$28,700 + TTL (6% sales tax) and Fees bring it to
$30,900 OTD. I will get any incentives are available at time of delivery OR they will take off $500 for the cash back currently offered = $30,400 OTD at most.

For the Marylanders, go to R&H Toyota in Owings Mills and speak to Sam; I'm pretty sure he is already set on his retirement fund since he is giving Toyotas away over there.

    Nope
Got a 2012 DC SB TRD Sport Package, Tow and mats. MSRP 32.4k Bought it for 30.7k plus TTL. No negotiation. Might not be the best deal, but the sales guy was great. I originally went for the LB, but after starting the search for toys realized it was one long ass truck and might not fit in my garage. (I have a stepped walkway that runs the width of the front of the garage) This guy drove 50 miles to my home in a LB to make sure it would fit, which it did, by 3". I didn't feel good about that little space and he said "no problem". He let me change my order to a SB and gave the 500 price difference back to me.

    Service like that - priceless.

Metro Toyota - Kazoo MI. Go see Will.

Good to hear. I was set on the long bed too. I even measured my garage based on Toyota's spec. It didn't fit. I didn't mind parking outside the garage, but when I test drove the short bed, I knew the long bed would be too much truck for me :).

2012 (V6-4x2) dclb TRD sport, tow package, drl and carpeted mats:
Southeast toyota msrp incl all dealer fees was $30,603
My price is $27,481 (incl all dealer fees) but not including tag fee and sales taxes because those expenses can vary so much one deal to the next.
Basically about 10% off sticker, because there is a $500 incentive applied which I took in place of the 2.9% financing. They also included the lifetime powertrain warranty, $100 deductible, fwiw.
They also have the 2 years free maintenance on all 2012s.
I'll change my own oil though...always use synth. I never trust dealers to put the good stuff in. Hope I never have to rely on the lifetime plan....too many strings attached and too much wiggle room for them imo.

This is about the 3rd or 4th car/truck Ive purchased leaning on the internet as my friend. Dealing only with internet departments and have them compete against one another makes for a much better deal and fewer hassles.
I thought it strange that long beds are very rare on dealer lots around here, either new or used. I'm guessing maybe 5% of the tacomas available on the southeast toyota website are longbeds, but I do see quite a few on the road. Maybe one out of every 20 I find for sale around here are longbeds. Im just happy I think I got a good deal, at just about 3 thousand more than 2008-2011s with 20 to 40,000 miles on them.

Post up some pics of the interior when you get it. I'd like to see those leather seats.
