As much as I cant wait to get a new truck , im not lookign forward to the process. Such a hassle...

I walked into a local dealer this week just to see what they are doing for pricing. I know what I want for a truck , and ive been online looking for months now . And I found a few dealers about 45 min away from me that advertise trucks about $1,500 below msrp.

But I walk into this local dealer and get right to the point, he starts telling me all the b.s on how the 2012 tacomas are all selling over msrp and yada yada and I better put a deposit now. Then after I told him which of his competitor dealerships are offering much lower pricing right online without any haggling his tone changed quickly. But by this point I was disgusted and told him I rather make the 45 min drive then deal with him...

Did you guys go through the same B.S. ? or did i just happen to run into a d-bag.....

    Yeah.
He's a douchebag trying to control the situation. Just keep trying different dealers until you get one that acts right. I lived in Austin for 20 years and bought all my Toyotas from a dealer 100 miles away in Waco over the phone because every Austin dealer was a douchebag pit. You can see what they have in stock on the internet, call them and tell them which one you want and $500 over invoice is the deal. It's a fair deal and wastes none of their time, they make a sale and can go pester the walk-ins.

You have the money and the power, you have to overcome desire and maintain the control.

That is the truth. Emailed everyone in Austin and got no better than 500 under MSRP. Once I tried comparing quotes from NW Arkansas every sales guy went silent. All I would say advice wise is that typically a good deal is worth driving for. You can always do a cost benefit between gas/time to monies saved. That and actually being able to tolerate the guy across from you is big, I defintely got the sense that the Austin guys sucked. Which is another reason I bought elsewhere.

How much was your msrp, and was that 31 with tax ,reg and etc.

Sounds like I'm going to have to drive to NJ or MA for a deal, CT dealers wouldn't knock much off the msrp price for me besides the 500 rebate..

I bought a 2012 2WD DC SB TRD Sport upgrade, in South Florida for 28,100 + fees. There was a big shortage down here, had to be trucked down from North Florida.

Looking at a '12 magnetic grey dclb sport 4x4 w/tow package and all weather floor mats and door sill protectors. I don't need the all weather mats and door sill protectors though. No jbl/entune. Sticker price is $33,025, with rebates $30,901, with military discount of $500 comes to $30,401. Trying to get it between $30,000-$31,000 out the door. Gonna drop a $15k down payment. What do you guys think? Dealer isn't budging too much even though I'm a returning customer. I'm stationed overseas right now. Will be stationed in Texas within the next month. Dealership is in Massachusetts, about 2 hrs drive away from my hometown in New York.

    Griffin,

If you're willing to drive that far check out R&H Toyota in Baltimore. You'll get a better deal than mat you quoted above. Internet prices are listed, then apply your rebates.

I'll be taking leave sometime in August or September, so I'll be home, only 2 hr drive from the dealership. If I do purchase it, I'll end up driving it all the way back to Texas.
