I've been wondering if Toyota has any plans to bring back the Regular Cab PreRunner? I did a Google search a few minutes ago since I'm on break at work, and found a link that said the "2011/2012 Regular Cab PreRunner will have a 2.7L engine with 4-speed automatic transmission." Or something like that. Have you guys heard anything about this? Here's the link:

I'm posting this from my phone so I apologize if I made any mistakes or mispelled anything. Thanks!

Very unlikely. Toyota has been deliberately simplifying the Tacoma lineup. This means fewer regular cab models and options. Get a regular cab 4x4 , while you still can.

    Just thought I'd ask.
Well that sucks. I do like the 4WD's though. If the Regular Cab PreRunner isn't an option when the information for 2012 is released, I might go that route. Thanks.

I just logged on to my corporate vehicle ordering page (I work for Toyota North America) and did not see any listing for the reg cab Prerunner. It's unfortunate that Toyota treats the regular cab Taco like a red-headed step child, but it's not going to disappear by any means. True they've apparently deleted the reg cab prerunner, but they did add an auto tranny option to the 4x4. I ordered one, should have it in March. With the auto tranny you get bucket seats and the full console as in the C & D cab trucks.

Thanks for your help and information! So does this mean the regular cab PreRunner is a no-go for 2012? Sorry to sound like a dummy

I really like the new 4WD's with bucket seats and auto tranny! Maybe I will go for that now. I love the console and bucket seats in these regular cabs. Congrats on yours BTW! What color did you order?

Same thing for the 4 cyl. Access cab. According to Toyota.com, it can only be had with an automatic for 2011. Hence the reason for getting my 2008 with a 5 speed manual. If they put a 5 or 6 speed auto in it, I might have bought a new one. Oh well...

I'm glad I was able to get my AC I4 with a manual. When I heard the 11's were only auto I was disapointed.

No body except the high tier Toyota employee's know what is lined up for 2012. They keep that close to thier chest. Info getting out early can hurt current model sales. They would rather you spend the money now than wait.

Don't know about the 2012 lineup, but I should know in a few months (not really that far ahead of anyone else). For some reason, you can ONLY get the bucket seats & console in a 4x4. No 2wd reg. cab availability. It actually took me awhile to figure that out, and I changed my order from 5-speed to auto. I really want the option of adding a remote starter, plus I really wanted the buckets. It's the same console from the C & D cab. The brochure says it has 3 cup holders, but truth is it has 5, because there's 2 in the back of the console that aren't counted.

I ordered Super White, with the Ivan Stewart wheels & BFG tires.
It will look just like this one, only white. Can't wait to get it! :D
This was my '09 Magnetic Gray truck.
