Does anyone know where I could find a free electrical diagram for a 2012/2nd gen? Searched other posts but they appear to have taken down the links. Also does anyone have some reliable websites to go to that I could buy a copy if there isn't a free one out there?

    Thanks in advance

What system do you need a diagram for? I could pull you one. If you wana buy a subscription for your vehicle there's Mitchel DIY, AllData DIY, or Toyota TIS
If you just need a specific diagram or service procedure there are quite a few members on here that have access to service info that would probably post it for you but your not gona find a complete manual or wiring diagrams for free very easily.

Join TIS and download your manual specific to year/VIN, it's only a couple bucks for a few day subscription. Just because we live in the age of digital downloads doesn't mean there are free lunches to be had.

OP, hasn’t been back since he asked.

    Indeed.

That being said, If OP works hard enough. He might find that lunch has been served here on this site.
The path to lunch starts with Members: Hoverlover and Offda. Those 2 guys served it.

    Now, go eat OP.

@Dm93 @TnShooter Thanks for the info. I'm looking at installing cruise control on a 2012 regular cab tacoma made in Texas. I read that the Texas made tacos weren't pre-wired for it so I was thinking I'll want a wiring diagram of the ECU to figure out the pins. Found a video but it didn't go into enough detail on it.

@Jerry Bear and @PennSilverTaco might know more on adding cruise control.

I think you’d probably be better of going with the aftermarket Rostra kit.
At one time I think they even made a harness kit. Now, I believe they just included diagrams and pictures to make your own harness in the instructions.

Here is a link with a bit more info and part#

    Here is the kit.

That’s what I’ve got, but if you don’t do it yourself make sure whoever installs it knows what the hell their doing and doesn’t break anything! I am thoroughly satisfied with my Rostra kit though!

I got mine off a fleabay seller for about $100, and it included the switch, wires to go from the clockspring to ecu, an extra horn wire (I assume in case the factory one got borked trying to get it out of the original connector), screws to mount the switch, AND a new oem panel for the steering wheel with the hole/rubber (which I didn't know it would include so already got one from the dealer).

A little of this and a little of that.
I installed the Rostra cruise control kit on my ‘13 Regular cab a while ago. Very straightforward, looks factory, and works great.

I forgot to mention. The missing wire issue as far as I know affects 2013 and later. What is missing on 2013 and later (such as mine), is the wiring going from pins 1 & 2 of the S8 connector of the clock spring to ground and ecu. Pop the covers around the steering column and look at the connector. If you don't see any wiring in pins 1 and 2, it means you will need to run the wiring.

The cruise switch is just a bunch of resistors with different resistance for the different positions that signals the ecu to perform whatever function - but the signal has to get to the ecu.

If your Taco is a manual, you will also have to install the wiring for the clutch switch as well (I believe).
