Going to be getting a 2012 Double Cab 4x4 in a couple weeks, but now im not convinced the TRD Sport package is worth the extra dough! In Canada here we are limited to packages and options. The 2012 Double Cab either comes base, SR5, or TRD Sport. About $2400 more for the TRD Sport, BUT, you get a lot of good stuff with the SR5: trailer hitch, upgrade alt, back up camera, same stereo and audio controls. Really all the Sport gives you is a hood scoop, 110V power inverter, 17" wheels, and different seats. Is it worth the extra money?

I believe the TRD has more hardware for off-loading. For me, I would base my decision on whether or not I use the truck off road. I agree with you that the SR5 comes very well equipped.

If it were SR5 vs. Sport, and I could not get the Offroad TRD package, I would save my dough and go with the SR5. No difference in offroad capability between the two.

Just got a sweet deal for an '09 DC TRD Sport Long Box. I love it. The longer wheelbase gives you a nice ride. Look around. You can find a good deal on Kiijii. why pay $42+ when you can save yourself mega coin used.
52,000kms just like new for $23,000, never in 4 wheel, hiway miles, lady driven

I agree the TRD OFF Road offers the locking rear diff and A-Trac, in Canada we dont get the the double cab TRD Off-road.

Sold my 09 a couple months ago...miss it!

put it in 4wd every once in a while. It's good for it.

BTW you're forgetting about the lsd or does the sr5 come with lsd now?

it comes with A-trac. 08 was the last year for the mechanical LSD in the SR5 and TRD sport IIRC.

Does the sport come with the 4 leaf pack in the back or do you still need to get the TSB?

Sport also has the Tranny Cooler and Oil Cooler- nice if you plan on towing. You can add a cooler for $100 later though.

All Canadian trucks since 06 come with 4 leaf packs from the factory, could never figure why US trucks have 3 and CDN trucks 4:):)

I think I heard that. I also heard the Canadian 4 leaf pack was still crap when the bed was loaded down and they still needed the TSB.

    Check the seats.

Living with a seat you dont like, or swapping it out later, is a royal and expensive pain in, well, the ass.

Mine came with 18" wheels? Are you sure there 17"? The thing I am not liking about the 18" wheels is how much more the tires cost. They are $40-70 more per tire than the 16"ones.

The 4 leaf TSB pack is crap period if you plan on doing any consistent hauling. There is no 5 leaf TSB pack for the Canadian trucks.

Canadian models probably don't get the bling option that the U.S. customers get.
