2012 Tacoma with illuminated light's

so my 2012 Tacoma decided to wake up this morning with a "Check engine light", and a "traction control off light" and i have loss of power and cannot seem to go past 30 MPH. And my truck barley made it past the hill this afternoon after work today, any ideas as to what is could be, I was thinking a "Air induction pump", or a "TPMS" sensor because they are electronically controlled, and yes the truck would rev in neutral but when you go you can hold the pedal to the floor and will hesitate to move and barley go, any ideas to what the solution is before i blow my money at the Toyota dealership. Thank's in advance!

 

I also have a 2012, and about 3 months ago I had these same issues, and turns out there’s a recall. Unfortunately I don’t remember the exact cause, but I took it to the dealership and they took care of it. Hopefully it’s what you’re experiencing as well and nothing worse!

 

You need to get the codes read to know where to go next, there are certain codes that will put the truck into limp mode.
If it does happen to be Secondary Air Injection System related there is an extended warranty on that system for some 2012 models.

Without knowing the code numbers anything would be a complete guess, most auto parts stores will read the codes for free.

 

You need to get the codes scanned ASAP.
Time is running out FAST if it is the SAIS.
It’s 10 years from date of first use.

You can creat an account on Toyota’s website and find out the date of first use.

update:i drove it to use a code reader and did not give problems with throttle response but still had the lights on and the code was P2442

 

That code is for the Secondary Air Switching Valve, that code will cause the truck to go into limp mode when it sets.
I'd see if your covered under the extended warranty campaign, you may still be covered and get the parts replaced for free.

 

Im pretty sure the secondary air pump is covered. There was a tsb on it

I appreciate everyone coming to help me out i'm going to take her tomorrow and bring the PDF of the 2012 Tacoma air switching valve to see if i have to pay or if its covered, I will update everyone tomorrow.

 

The date of 1st use should be AFTER the build date.
The build date is on the sticker when you open the drivers door.
The build date doesn’t mean much, but it will give you a “head start”.

 

If it is not covered under warranty I caution replacing the failure prone components. I strongly warn again using aftermarket part as well. Either of these options will only lead to future failure and more expense.
The Secondary Air Injection is failure prone and you can spend all day reading horror stories of owners trying to address.
