You could always make sure that your tires are up to PSI spec so the TPMS light goes off. Or you can take the sensors out and ignore the light.

It's not the government that's really the issue. It's people who can't do the basic of car maintenance. How many of you think that "Blind Spot Monitoring" and "cars that park themselves" are a good idea? These are basic rules of knowing how to drive. People are going to become more reliant on the devices that are being put into vehicles now a days. If people just spent more time learning how to drive and check the air pressure, none of these things would be needed. But I guess spending more time on your phone and texting while driving is more important to society now anyways.

Would it not be just as easy to go behind the gauge cluster and remove the light bulb for the TPMS? I don't know for a fact whether it's a bulb or LED. I just have issues with cutting and splicing stock wiring.

I would love to give this method a shot, but where is this TPMS switch that you speak of ? Thanks for your input.

Disabling the TPMS is prohibited by federal law ONLY FOR AUTO SERVICE BUSINESSES. Even then, it is a civil (not criminal) transgression that carries a token fine for offenders. Most (possibly all) state law doesn't even touch it. As a vehicle owner, you can disable as you see fit, and you are not required to repair it prior to resale.

I looked at some of their switches,

I thought the ABS kill switch wired to a flashing red switch would be pretty trick as I wouldn't keep it disabled for long periods, and maybe a yellow or amber toggle for the YWM, lol...

Usually under the dash there is a symbol/button that looks like this:[IMG]

As an update, since doing the reset I have driven over 600 miles and it has not come back on. Drove all the way to NC and the light never lit up.

I was looking at their regular plastic switches, Lol...

Not the panel groups, they are very nice though. and could be mounted almost anywhere.

Isn't the purpose of this switch to reset to different tire pressures (low or high) depending on terrain and/or load?

As far as I know the TPMS has nothing to do with setting different tire pressures. It is only a reset to put out the dash light that warns the driver one of the tires has low pressure.

I was told the same thing by Sears when I was having new tires mounted they can't remove the sensors or disable them. They also told me if I brought the truck in and it didn't not have sensors in the wheels (aftermarket) and their computer shows it should have sensors that they would not work on my truck do to liability reasons.

Well, I got the light to flash 3 times on step three. Still will not turn off. I still have a spare under my truck & that one last TPMS is still sending a signal. Might be the reason the reset will not work for me.
its time for the black tape treatment.
