Tha Raptor is HUGE. I just couldn't get used to the over-all size of the truck. The Baja can't come close the matching the off road ability of the Raptor, but works perfectly for what I use it for...

Anyone tried to squeeze 285s onto their Baja yet?

I intend to ride my BFG ATs until they are gone, at which point, 285s might be in order.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
    Uh, whut??
Dude, have you researched the Craptor? It has so much torque that it is notorious for snapping driveshafts in quite inopportune locations......like the middle of nowhere. It's also so wide that a lot of guys have trouble fitting it into a lot of areas (think narrow canyons). And if the various videos are any indication, they have a tough time getting up various terrain that Tacomas simply blast through without a second thought (probably because of the weight difference). Also, Craptors rely heavily on Tacomas to extricate themselves from stuck situations......or when they snap their driveshaft.

If I'm not mistaken, the Baja is merely an off-road Taco that's been all gussied up with actually decent parts. The basic clearances haven't changed.
Which is to say, if you want 285's, you're going to need a lift AND/or a shitload of trimming.

Front end sits 2" higher on a Baja thanks the the factory lift. I'm wondering if that 2" lift will clear 285s?

No, I did not research the Raptor. I owned one for over a year. There is absolutely no comparision of their off road capability. The Baja would break in half under some of the conditions (speed/terrain) I drove the Raptor through.

That being said I still think the Baja is a better truck, for me anyways...

I was also not aware the raptor had these problems with the drive shaft, any links? I saw the fiasco with the with the damaged frames when they were jumping them at speed, like in the commercials, lol

I never heard about the drive shaft, but I did hear the rear frame was folding like a beer can.

    TX Baja Owners:

Could you look at your sway-bar, at the bend just before it attaches to the links at the knuckle (spindle to some)?

I am seeing some marks as if something is making contact. Only thing I can come up with is the steering tie-rod is making contact with the sway bar on compression/droop.

Also noticed both tie-rod end lock nuts backed off about a 1/4 of a turn.

Haha not yet, haven't really had a chance to throw a wrench on it.

I just got my hands on a spring compressor so I can check and see if there is a 3rd Notch in the Bilstein to bring the nose up a bit more. When I do that, sway bar comes off.

I have a feeling there is a 3rd notch hiding behind the spring collar.

That is exactly what I did, traded my 2010 FJ Trail Teams for a Baja. I loved the FJ, but the having a pickup was more important for me....and I love the way the Baja looks and drives.
