I finally got around to testing this and it works. I usually have a Garmin eTrex GPS mounted on my dash and powered by a cigarette lighter adapter. I brought out the USB cable that I use to plug the GPS into my computer to see if I can use the USB port in the 2012 to power it. The GPS gets power and did not disrupt any Bluetooth stream of music from my iPhone.

This frees up a cigarette lighter plug to power something else. Planning on Wet Okele seat covers with driver and passenger side heaters, which would require two plugins until I hard wire them (if I even do).
