I have tried a couple of the quick fixes and no help. I should not have to spend any more time on this and that is why I am going into the dealer. I think it has to do with my window molding. Plus if I have any more leaks in the future even after my warranty ends I can document that this truck had a problem from the beginning.

Thank you very much! I just got back from the dealer and after listening to my video they went with TSB 0062-12. They pulled my windshield and put in a new gasket. I have a trip to San Digeo this week so we will see if this works at high speed.

Funny thing is, I sent the same video to Toyota corporate over the weekend and this is the reply I got back...

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales,U.S.A., Inc.

Went to the dealer and they had the truck for 3 days. 120 miles (and almost half a tank) later:mad:, they say it's the grill. They are getting me a new one, but now after reading that the new grill apparently does nothing, I'm ready for dissapointment.

BTW, I figure the dealership should have replaced the fuel they used. That's damn near $35.00 out here.

Heard the high pitched whistle when I hit 70 MPH yesterday on my way home from Santa Barbara. Cross winds were absolutely insane. Have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow. We'll see what they say, but I think it's the Whistle from windshield T-SB-0062-12.

My 2010 TRD Double Cab has the whistle, too. I will try this fix and let you know if it works. Thanks!

The original post did not indicate where the noise appears to come from.
I have a 3 month old Tacoma that has started to generate very loud howling
noise. It seems to come from passenger side view mirror area. In my case too the service department was not interested, get some tape and figure it out. I find this reply unacceptable as I'm deprived the full use of the truck. The starts around 65+ plus gets progressively worse. I'm wondering how many owners have this problem and if there is a case to argue for design or manufacturing defect.

    http://www.tacomahq.com/1845/grill-wind-whistle-noise-tsb/
According to T-SB-0058-12, “some 2012 model year Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a wind whistle type noise from the front of the vehicle. This noise may be coming from the grill where it meets the hood. A revised grill has been developed to address this condition.” The TSB only applies to truck that were produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective Vins listed below. If yours doesn’t match up then it probably isn’t affected.
Keep in mind like other T-SBs the repair is only covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty, 36 months or 36,000 miles whichever occurs first.

According to the T-SB-0062-12, “some 2009-2012 Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a wind whistle type noise coming from upper area of the windshield or the outer perimeter of the windshield. This may be caused by a windshield molding fitment issue and/or windshield urethane sealer application issue.” The T-SB only applies to those trucks that were built BEFORE the production change effective VINs below.
The T-SB repair is covered under Toyota’s Comprehensive Warranty, 36 months or 3,600 miles and is limited to the condition in this T-SB.
The repair is described below according to the T-SB:

    1. Verify the condition.
    2. Use masking tape to cover the windshield molding and drive vehicle to confirm the wind whistle noise is eliminated. If the noise is still heard, this TSB does not apply.
    3. Remove and reseal windshield following the service manual or sublet to a glass removal company.Note that the windshield molding will be damaged and will need to be replaced completely.
    4. Test drive the vehicle to verify the noise is gone.
As with any T-SB repair, it is advised that you visit your local Toyota dealership if any problems arise.

I just installed the 1/4" drip line into hood seal. Very easy to do.
I'll take truck on 900 mi trip. Lets see how it works. I hope it does, don't really come back deaf....:)

Is there any vids that shows the grill whistle? I am trying to figure out one I have before going to the Stealer! They are all idiots so I want to go in there with the answers for them.

I think mine is the Windshield tho, It sounds like the video I have seen on here. I heard it for the first time today when I got a little heavy footed passing a transport, Mine doesnt start whistling until about 130 KPH (80 MPH) but after I heard it than I wanted to keep hearing it so I was flying down the highway trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Pretty sure the windshield but if anyone can point me to one where there is a vid and it was the grill so i can make sure.

    Thanks.

Push on the top of the window as the noise is happening push hard if the pitch changes it is the windshield. If it doesn't run a strip of tape over the weatherstrip where the hood meets the grille if the noise goes away it's the grille.

My 12 has been just about perfect. The only noise I have heard I was going 70 mph on a freeway and had about a 40-50 mph crosswind and had a little whistle in the passenger window. Only happened once.

It did not work at the end the noise came back after a while.
Observation: as driver you hear noise coming from passenger side and as passenger it comes from drivers side. It must come from somewhere middle.
Local dealer told me to tape mirrors which obviously can't be the case and in case made no difference. On top of that the service rep gave me an impression Toyota would not fix it, in very condescending way.
I plan to take my Tacoma to the dealer week after next and have fix it.
I can not drive on freeway they way whistle, noise is unbearable.

Is your noise the grill noise and not the windshield noise? How do you k ow what one you have? Has anyone had the windshield replaced and it fixed the problem?

Today I taped whole windscreen frame with 1" blue tape.
Noise was gone! On return trip I removed all of the tape and the noise came back.
Ramesa1's idea of pushing top of the window to make pitch change did just that, so there is another confirmation to window seal problem. I also noticed driving at 60+ and no noise pushing on window made the noise happen. I didn't even need to push hard.
Next week I'll go to my dealer about this. See how they try weasel out f it. More later.

Haven't been hanging around here too much...come back for a peek and, Wow! I can't believe these Tacomas are having the same problems as my 2007 did...between the 3 leaf springs on the ORD to this window thing I had fixed twice, it's just strange!
