The noise in my 2012 was coming from the window. The dealer removed the front window put in a new seal and reseated the window. No noise so far. This was all done under technical service bullitan TSB 0062-12. Good Luck!

I went to the dealership last Thursday with my explanation and copy of tsb. He called the glass company and gave me an appointment today. When I picked the truck up they acknowledged there was a window seating problem and its now fixed. I have to on free way run a test but all frustrations seem to have been taken care of.

Yup... I called the stealer and I asked him what he knew about the windshield issues on the Tacomas. He said right away you mean the whistling... My truck is there right now tomorrow morning getting resealed. I hope that's the fix he says it will Be.

Just brought my 2012 into the dealer this morning for the windshield issue as well. Brought a copy of the TSB and emailed him the video I took from my iPhone. The tech road-tested it but didn't get the noise but they still sent it over to their glass installer to re-seat and reseal the windshield based on the video. Fingers crossed.

UPDATE: Re-seated, re-sealed, fresh wash and driving 85 mph into a headwind with no wind noise! Thanks for the information here!

I have the same problem on my 2012 Tacoma.
I'll check that seal under the hood, I hope it'll eliminate that noise....

the other place is top of the windshield. Drive 60mph and push out around the mirror.
If the noise chages, thats your problem.

Just developed this noise on my 2012 as well. Started hearing something around 1500 miles (2000 or so now) on the truck. My whistle begins around 40 mph and continues through 60 or, until the wind noise drowns it out. Thanks for the information in this thread. Going to tape the front grill/hood gap and see if that is the culprit.

Just an update on my fix here: I did use painters tape and taped off the front hood/grill gap portion and drove around to confirm that was the source of the light whistle. I had purchased 1/4" plastic tubing but had trouble pushing it into the rubber weather stripping or whatever you call it. I could not find any plastic dowel's and did not want to use wood. I was able to locate an aluminum dowel in 1/4" from an ACE Hardware store. Used a hacksaw to cut it to length and a dremel type tool and bit to round off the ends of any burr's or sharp edges to prevent it from tearing the rubber. The aluminum should last as it won't degrade or rust and is for the most part non corrosive, and will hold form and deal with any heat in that area. I lightly shaped it to the curve of the rubber strip and used dry Teflon lube as to not atract gunk that I use on my bicycle chains to install smoothy. Worked like a charm, whistle is gone and you don't even see the fix that should last the life of the truck.

I get a bad vibration from the lower portion of the A pillar. It only starts humming after 80mph. I'm thinking it's the small plastic cover on the bottom of the A pillar.

Get to freeway speed and push the window around rear view mirror. If it is the window seal you should be able to make it whistle. Mine started as low as 50.

Mine wouldn't do it until about 130kmh

I brought it to the stealer, they didn't even ask questions it is a known issue for sure. They took out the shield reinstalled with a new seal... A few weeks later I was washing the truck noticed the passenger side seal seem to not be stuck down.. Sure enough I could lift it right off the window. Had the dealer redo it and looks like it needs to be redone again because it lifts off in a few places that I am sure will get worse as time goes so will getter done again.

Just heard this noise yesterday as we had some high winds. It sounded like it was coming from the windshield. I am going to try the 1/4" tubing on the grill first then go the windshield route second.

Mine starts at around 45 and goes until 60 mph, had the windshield TSB and Grill TSB done...no Joy. Placed the 1/4" brake lines in the stripping and it worked great..... for three weeks, any ideas? Dealer says there is nothing else they can do and the toyota rep says that they will not reimburse the dealer to do anymore work to it.

I had some plastic hosing laying around from a drip system that was installed in my yard. I put that in the headlight stripping and covered the ends of the line with electrical tape. In the grill's weather stripping I put about a 1" piece of foam on each end.

    Worked great!

I too had the obnoxious whistling noise - Coincidently I had to have a windshield replaced and kept bringing it back to them to get it fixed. After 5 windshield replacements they finally figured out that the 2012 tacos have this problem by searching their data base. When I took it to my local dealership (Mtn States Toyota) they strenously denied that these models have this problem and INSISTED that it was the windshield replacement.... (this after they made me wait for 2 hrs - sent me home - brought me back to wait another 2 hrs while they argued with the windshield guys over who was going to pay the $120 "diagnostic" charge). Total bullshit! I finally did my own research and discovered this site... I spent 78cents for a wooden dowel - installed it in 5 minutes. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Mtn States has lost another customer......
