Dang! Just saw this. I know it's a day later than you mentioned, but I thought it's worth checking to see if I can still get in on 1 of these 2 final spots. If so, I'm totally ready to purchase, just let me know.

Got my bumper powdered for 100 bucks. Soo close to install time, just rebuilding my winch first.

Installed it with a Superwinch Tiger Shark 9500!

Winch has synthetic line and Factor 55 Flat Shackle. I painted it matte black. Might plastidip it later to give it a little more scratch resistance.

Looks great! Good job. That side mount Superwinch makes things easy.

We did a refresh on a buddy's FJ this weekend. He had one of the original mounts about 3 years old and an older Viper steel cable winch. We pulled the bumper, checked everything, cleaned then coated with some Rustoleum bed spray (sucks for beds but great for bumpers and sliders) then added an Engo 10000S.

The FJ bracing is a bit lower than the Taco and and the A/C line tends to block some center mount solenoid boxes so we simply slid it to the side and works great, firmly mounted with easy access for the control cable (we installed wireless too).

Just another way to mount things.... oh and the ol bumper was in perfect condition, no issues even though he has used plenty and hard.

Nope, no major problems. Super easy install. My 2013 bumper cover had the following minor discrepancies from the instructions (but nothing major, just took an extra 5 minutes to figure out):
    • 4 x 10mm bolts on the bottom instead of 6
    • 1 x 10mm bolt on each side instead of 2
    • + 1 plastic clip on each side
Other than that, it bolted up perfectly and the instructions were great.

Install took me about 3 hours on my own. I mounted the bumper first, then the winch, then trimmed the bumper cover and put it all back together. Paint took 36 hours prior to install (~4 hours active, lots of drying time between coats and 24 hours before install).

As for painting it, the US Off Road instructions are actually pretty good. I've painted lots of metal pieces in the past so didn't really need them, but was please to see reasonable instructions on painting. The fact that they stressed taking your time and thoroughly cleaning everything was nice to see (and very very important).

The only thing I'd add if you are painting it yourself is to get the entire piece heated up to ~75-80F (using a space heater during the winter or the sun during the summer). It'll make the finish much much nicer. If you are spray painting, use lots and lots of super thin coats (the metal shouldn't be fully covered until coat 3 or 4 of the primer, 8 total thin primer coats, 8-12+ thin paint coats) and allow plenty of time to dry between coats (20-30 minutes). Using thin coats when spray painting will prevent running and the heated metal helps the paint flow / smooth out better. Finally, humidity is your enemy, I'm in Central Texas, so it's usually pretty low humidity, but I generally avoid painting on humid days (since I paint in my garage without humidity control).

Thanks! The side mount solenoid really does make the install easy. I dropped the winch in after mounting the bumper since I was wrenching alone. I slid it in from the left side (couldn't drop it in directly since I didn't remove the center brace). There was plenty of room, but only possible since the solenoid was off to the left and out of the way.

It's great to hear that FJ bumper is holding up after a few years! Can't wait to use mine soon :)

    Two-part question:

Will an M10000 or M8000 fit with this mount?

Is the M10000 overkill for a Tacoma? I've read double the truck's weight so I was thinking the M8000 is a little small?

Also, I'll be that guy... I missed the group buy... when is the next?:anonymous:

Right now I have no plans for another group buy, quite frankly we aren't building them fast enough... that time of year.

Read this on winch fitment, I'd go with a 9-10K winch on the Taco: https://www.usoffroad.us/winch-fitment/

M8000s fits great in this bumper. I like it because of the light weight. Lots of opinions out there as to whether it is enough for a 5500 GVWR truck. Carry a snatch block to double the line pull - just in case.

Sweet product, the install was a snap. Here's my truck. I did end up getting the bumper linex'd which is probably the best way to go on keeping this baby in good shape offroad. I went with a Superwinch LS8500 (cheap, reliable, effective) and it fit easily. I have the TRD Supercharger so I did have to relocate the inter-cooler coolant pump. I ended up bolting it to the winch support cross member that seems to work fine. US Offroad comes to Alberta, Canada!!

I was going to do install pics but I got to excited and did the install straight through....:pout:

I know you might still be trying to figure this out, so just in case you haven't... I know some delivery services have an option where the package can be shipped and held at the nearest store location to the customer and the receiver can pick it up there by providing their identification. DHL allows this idk about UPS though. Good luck if you're still trying to figure it out.
