Correct. No holes (of some sort), not access to the winch bolts.

With no factory recovery point holes you could do this...

The red dots represent the holes you would use to access the winch bolts... it's not perfectly accurate or necessarily to scale but you get the idea.

We'd sort the holes to miss any gussets and align correctly, etc. It would also let us eliminate a couple of gussets like the second drawing. Gray lines represent the 3 center gussets instead of 5.

I'll have to agree. The overall work and engineering if you will... to keep the recovery point, or rather, to keep from cutting off the recovery point, is causing too many issues.

    So.. something like this?

Strongest would be the tacoholes5 pic with the fewest holes.

    I'll work on it.

my vote is for: cut off the OEM recovery point; this new bumper adds 2 superior recovery points so I don't see the point in try to save the stock one. If people are already cutting their bumper, cutting off the recovery loop shouldn't be any more of a 'modification'. AND I vote for the tacoholes5 pic style; strongest, less cutting (cheaper), and looks good in my opinion.

    Thanks for your efforts Brad!

I am a little confused. Are the holes visible from the front or are they the mounting holes for the winch?

That is actually the underside... it's at a 60 deg angle, skidplate kinda. Just drain/access holes. Winch mount bolts are in the winch tub above that. See attached for reference of current layout.

Cool thanks. I just didnt like the thought of those holes being exposed on the front of the bumper for lack of a better word

I'd like a trapezoidal shape that follows the shape of the opening, having two clusters of round circles seems out of place.

Is it possible to have this made out of aluminum and still be effective?

Getting all of this in to CAD.. .found more small adjustments to be made today as well. We'll see how it all lays out.

The circles will really be largely invisible... it's a 60 degree angle and standing up you really won't see much of them... especially if it's black. But bumpers typically have several openings for all kinds of reasons... we shall see.

As far as aluminum... short answer is no. The tight tolerances won't give us any room to build an aluminum version as it must be quite a bit thicker. Plus the cost would suck all of the money out of your wallet and the demand would be very low because of that.

Would this setup work with THIS front "skid plate"?
    Thanks,

I have that one on my 2013. Great product.
I'm thinking this bumper will fit with Matt's skid, from what I've seen so far.

That's one reason I was so interested in this bumper, don't want to lose that skid.
