I recently bought this Tacoma with no factory fog lights. I knew i would be installing some soon so i bought a cheap aftermarket kit with good reviews

So, it looks like there was already factory harnesses just hanging for these. It looks like they use a green and white wire color. Ok so now where does the wiring go from there?

The kit came with an oem switch for one of the factory holes.

Are there harnesses behind the dash somewhere that i plug the switch into?

kinda confused on what do now. It would definitely save me some time if i could use the factory wiring for these. Just don't know about the other wires. the kit was
    very confusing. thanks

You'll need a 15A Fog light fuse, and a Fog Light relay (standard relay will work)
Then plug the switch into the harness. The harness is behind one of the black "button covers" on the left side of the steering wheel.
I think the plug has 4 wires. A Blue, White/Black, Green, and a Green/White wire.

The relay is actually in the auxiliary fuse box on 12-15 models, fuse is still in the main box.

That's what I get for using the FSM for my truck.
I keep forgetting Toyota changed things.

OP should have what he needs to "make them work" now.

Wow, you guys are really helping out. quick question?

So if I get the right switch(oem), plug a relay in the slot, plug a 15a fuse in that location, and that is it? isn't there more to it? am I over thinking it? really appreciate all help on this.

That's it. Nothing more to it.
I'd just make sure the harness is in the dash.
(It likely is, since you had the wires ate the lights)

I thought i was over thinking this. Geesh. The kit also came with a prewired relay. Would this work ok for the panel install or do I need a special one?

Make sure your switch plug is there and the pins for the fuse and relay are there but yea if they are it should be plug and play.

The relay definitely won't fit, the switch might plug in but who knows if the pinout is the same as the factory switch. I wouldn't wana risk plugging it in unless I was sure it was pinned correctly.

Oreillys should have one if you can find someone that knows what they are looking for there.
I got a spare one from there when I did the fog anytime mod so I didn't have to risk messing up my OEM relay.

I'll see if I can find the SMP part number.

thanks guys for all the help, especially part numbers and links. I know what needs to be done.

Being from a generation that did your own Car Audio installs back in the day, i love doing all the mods i can do by myself. Back in the day we just had to figure it out, as we didn't have the internet.

    thanks again!!

Update: So went by and picked up the relay from Autozone. It went in perfectly. Also, there was already a 15 amp fuse in the slot for the fog light power, so good there.

I went to put in the switch and it fits perfectly and looks original except one thing that you guys mentioned. It didn't plug into the original harness that was waiting for me behind the dash. So there is not much wire to pull out to even solder the aftermarket plug.

So i went to Amazon and ordered an expensive Toyota oem fog light switch. You guys are right in not taking the chance.

So where exactly do I find this wiring hanging down? I have a 2012 4x4 base model… looking up into the fenderwell behind the fog lamp blank… I don’t see anything. Also, how do I access the back of the blank fog lamp switch to see if the plug is there?
