Thats only for 2012 up trucks. Mine is a 2010 and is pinging on hit weather. I hope get come up with something. I've seen a bunch of 2010 and 2011 truck owners here complaining about the pinging.

Tried 91 octane and Non Ethanol fuel. Pings on acceleration and rattles in city driving at about 1500-1700 RPM and 45 mph or so. For me, this seems to the ping rattle zone. Dealer appointment next week to document the issue.

I have a 2014 and mine has been pinging since the first free oil change. Noticed it on the way home. Been back twice. 1st they did the reprogramming of the control module per the TSB they put out. 2nd time they claimed I should put better gas in it and could not replicate the knock. I changed out the oil myself to mobil 1 synthetic and it helped a lot. But the spark knock sound is still there, just muffled.

Same here 2014. Mine would rattle on acceleration then it fades off. Most of the time around 1500 RPM with AC on. Just started recently. I still have one more free oil change and will let them know at that time. Never had this problem with my 99 4runner.

Limited package (Factory) Towing Package (Factory) Transmission Cooler (Factory) Chrome Bull Nose Chrome Window Lubers Automatic Tailgate lock Folding Bed Cover Coming Soon (Once my warranty finally funs out): Dual Exhaust headers back Cold Air Intake Camshaft & Crankshaft Upgrade EBC Extra Duty Pads and Carbon Rotors Maybe a supercharger oneday if my engine is still in good condition.
UPDATE: Originally I had this problem and Toyota refused to acknowledge. After a two month fight last summer they release the spark knock noise update
I had to file a BBB review in order to get them to release this update: Look under guarantee/ warranty issues to read my story there.

That was 1 year and 30,000 miles ago. Now my truck is in the shop for a throttle body replacement. The issue began when my truck decided t would not accelerate upon stepping the throttle. I looked down at the dash to find an check engine light lit up. I pulled out my OBD reader and got the error code P2111. This happened after driving for 30 minutes at 70 miles an hour. So I have AAA tow it to the nearest dealership which just happened to be the worst I have ever encountered. It's been there for 4 weeks so far going on week 5.

You can see the rest of my current issue here. I get the feeling somehow this may be related to their update of the "Computer Logic"

claywd is there anything new you can add? I looked at the other thread you linked and wonder if you have any updates?

I have a 2012 double cab 2wd TRD Sport with 53k. I have the basic predetination problem I have read about so many others having, and I have had it ever since buying the truck at 39.7k certified pre-owned. Obviously it is a real and ubiquitous design issue in one or more systems on the truck.
My Toyota dealership told me the same old crap everyone else reports: better gas, higher octane, etc etc BS. I don't believe this stuff. I have tried them and the problem persists just the same. The computer should correct any issue from the varied gas available across the country. I'd like to arm myself with as much knowledge as I can before going back in and requesting they take another look at it. I saved your other story and will share it with them. I also have the TSB you reported, although I believe that might already have been performed on my truck.

I also have a persistent front brake rotor issue. The rotor needs to be resurfaced again. It vibrates when braking, particularly downhill under load, or when turning sharply downhill, like at a stop sign at a corner.

Also, with the change in weather this spring in southern California, soomething in my dash is creaking and squeeking with road bumps and vibration. Very annoying.

Thanks for fighting the good fight and sharing your information.
