2014 Needs Entune Firmware Update

Never had any issues with my '14, well, beside this whole Entune thing being a piece of shit. But the updates are installed via the Entune app. I do it via bluetooth, but I'm pretty sure you can do it via USB connection too. I think I've had total of 2 or 3 updates since I bought the truck 2 years ago.

 

^^^ Pretty sure firmware updates are from the dealer and Entune updates are from the app. I have a 2014 and having same problems as op.

 

Is the update just sitting on the drive. Or is it in a folder on the drive.

It might need to be the latter. Goofy stuff I know, but I vaguely remember needing to do that when I loaded my startup screen.

 

I think just to be clear, these update procedures and the Entune app is for the Entune with NAV only. This does not work if you don't have NAV. If you try to sign up for the Entune app, your VIN number will be rejected if you don't have the right radio.

I think that the Entune is a POS, I wish there was something that I could download into this thing to make me like this part of my $34,000 truck, it's a shame

 

I tried and the head unit does not recognize the USB drive. I followed the written instructions as well as watching the YouTube video - no luck.

 

Your radio is too new, the newer entire units use the bluetooth connection and data from your phone to update. If you connect with the toyota entire app on your phone and a update is available you will be prompted to do so.

 

Ohh man I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. It's been driving me insane!!!! I go over a bump and it will flicker (makes me think there's a loose connection somewhere) or the screen will freeze randomly or stop playing randomly or shut off and restart randomly. Like others it'll have one day and be really bad and won't happen others. It's extremely random and such a pain in the ass. The nearest Dealer to me is 100 miles away. Annoying as hell!!!

 

Currently I'm struggling with a 2013 HDD radio in my '13 Camry hybrid. The software is dated 2012, and I'd think that surely there has been an update since then. I know that my Gracenote file is old since I can't display any album covers, just text.

I contacted Gracenote who pushed it back on the dealer without really answering the question if there even is an update. I contacted my dealer twice in the last few weeks and never got a response. I tried a file that I found online only to find out that it's for Entune with NAV, but not Entune HDD with NAV. I've looked on EBay and there are updates for every year but 2013.

This update may be part of a NAV update, and it appears to be $165 plus labor to get that. All I want are friggin album covers instead if text, how hard is that?

 

Ugh. Struggling with mine still. 2011 truck. 2014 non JBL w/ nav radio. Never was able to get the stupid Entune app shit to work. Tried the USB file and truck doesnt even recognize the files on it, just shows a blank USB.

The radio is starting to get glitchy and its been pissing me off. I dont care too much about the Entune stuff, I mainly just want the radio to stop freezing randomly. The app shit would be cool to make work though.

 

So I went to the dealer today and asked if there was an update for my HDD radio. As soon as I mentioned Gracenote files, I saw the blank stare appear. One of the service writes said that they have a loaded Camry hybrid on the lot and it has the same ugly text with no album covers.

So I guess if you spent way too much money on a premium HDD radio, it's not supported as well as its cheaper counterpart.

 

I'm at the dealer currently and they are stating $120 if it needs the update. I have the platinum extended warranty. The update should be covered correct?

 

Forgot to add 40,000 miles and my radio is stuck in an on again off again loop for the past two days.

 

Well, no update can fix the eternal loop. Have to have a new radio installed. Luckily, it is under warranty ( just shipping from Cali).

 

Well I took the truck to the dealer today to help with all the Entune issues. They apparently had the update available and installed it and it seems to be working better now. Even the USB port works again which it didn't before and now I have it on my truck that there were problems that had to be taken care of under warranty so they will have to basically continue to fix it forever. If you have the 2014 go get it fix before you go over 36k miles and can't get it done anymore.

I wonder what they would do for me. I have a '14 radio in my '11. I bet their heads would explode

 

There's only one way to find out. They will probably find some reason to charge you though for something that should be automatic and over the air

 

I took my 2015 to the dealer yesterday for my Entune update. There was no charge as the truck still has a factory warranty.
On my wife's 2015 Rav4 she is able to send a quick reply to text received. I am not able to do that on my Tacoma.
Any ideas?

 

Have 2014 JBL/Nav unit.
Screen was freezing up and restarting.

Just downloaded Entune app on my phone and updated nav unit.

No problems since.

 

Attached is the TSB associated with this issue. Does any have the update files availble so I can do this myself and save myself the hassle with going to the dealer.

My unit requires the following file: 13TDANNA-DA00_0177.kwi
