Thanks for the confirmation, very glad to hear that! One other thing to ask. The Auxilary jack, in the picture of the jack in the orig post. It looks like a mini plug on the auxilary jack that would plug into the 20/28 pin harness, but in the picture of the harness I do not see a place to plug them together.

OK so the USB plugs into the back fo the radio not into the 20/28 pin harness. Where does the mini plug go for the aux input for ipods etc?

The same shit everyone else has.
the 3.5mm aux jack? its part of 20/28 pin. if your truck already has an aux jack on the dashboard, when you connect the 20/28 pin harness together, itll work.

    OK thanks so much.

My truck does not ahve a 3.5mm mini jack and I want one.
So it sounds like the 20/28 pin will provide that.
    Thanks

Mike I think the 3 wires added from the servo harness in this thread would have to be added to the 20/28 pin harness if your truck didn't come with a jack fr the factory. I picked up the servo 3 wire harness but I'm thinking I don't need it.

Anyone swap a WHOLE steering wheel from an older model year to the current style? Controls work? SRS Airbag issues? Same wireing harness>?

Youll still have to wire in the 3.5 jack after the adapter since its part of the truck side of the harness.

Ok tell me where I am going wrong with my thinking, It SEEMS that I could buy BOTH of these or the top one to plug into the radio and another just like the LOWER one for the wire harness side of the USB for my paticular model and plug the two adapters into each other...... am I wrong? Is there not a "male" USB adapter to plug into the wire harness?

Not sure on your truck, but the 2011 did NOT have a USB port on the dashboard. there is not wiring behind the dashboard for a USB. You have to add it all. The male retention plug allows you to turn the plug out of the radio into a female USB port

On the image above you want the male grey plug to go into the back of the head unit. The other end that's USB can be male or female - USB extension cords are made in both kinds (male to male, female to male, female to female).

Also - I have a 2009 with an aux port. The plug from the back of my old aux port will not directly plug into the new one I got from Toyota. So I'll have to do some digging for pinouts and possibly source a female plug to make an adapter of sorts. We'll see.

is it the one that has the USB in it too?

The pinout is this on it - Looking at the back of the harness, where the USB cable is at the bottom -

WELL, --- here is my quote -

Basically, you can cut the wires and splice them together in the proper order.

    NEW w/USB - OLD w/AUX only
