I love my 2011 but I would kill for the stick on the floor and locking hubs! The electronic one is flakey every thing needs to be just right it, helps to drive it dead straight a few feet if it miss behaves.

What about a transmission shop? Around here, most transmission shop repairs transfer cases.

Too bad I'm on the other side of the country. I've got a transfer case I'd sell you for a couple hundred bucks. I'd even help you swap it into your truck for some beer

Thanks for that offer!! Any interest from anyone in the stock front diff actuator? Obviously nothing is wrong with it besides I snapped the breather nipple off, sell cheap :)

so now what guys? is there a way to troubleshooot the transfer case accuator? or the 4wd ecu? i highly doubt its the transfer case itself like the dealer says....so as of now i just have a 2wd drive....everything operates fine.

Here have you, good luck. Get yourself a DVOM with skinny leads for poking behind wire harnesses if you don't have them already, something like this.

Wow... I felt pain in that estimate. Are you sure the dealer didn't cause all this by spraying the under coating? Did it stop working after the dealer visit? I would use that $6K to find a xfer box doctor and his attorney.
    Good luck!

I'd call that dealer & tell them no way & to kiss my ass. That's not the problem & they know it. All the latest reviews of that service dept are shit. If you click on most recent reviews they are 1 stars with a cut & paste response. Also, leave it in 2wd till you get someone with a brain to look at it.

You need to take it to a different mechanic. You def need a second opinion @ that price. Have you thought of taking it to 4x4 shop & just asking for a diagnosis? At 6k, that gives you plenty of motivation to get a second opinion. That's the line I use @ the mechanic.

This thread 8 months old. I'm sure it has been resolved one way or the other. But it would be nice if the OP came back with an update.

If you're still having the issue, bring it down to Toyota of Southern Maryland in Lexington Park and see what they say.
